Stay Covid safe today by creating your own Wetherspoons pub at home. Simply fill a glass half full with beer, top it up with warm water then piss all over your bathroom floor.

Sitting watching the rain... we need some warm weather Heating on Daughter sneaking past surveillance later to come for a drink..... She delivered my drink earlier dressed in fluorescent turquoise blue long waterproof coat carrying huge bright red carrier bag...I have a sneaking suspicion she wanted to be seen..... I forgot to mention the bright yellow wellington boots...

Some will get knocked down on their way there and back ... Some people will not be enjoying their night out near me......
About 50 police pulling cars over on major road to town. Saw one car being loaded onto the back of a lorry, plus another lorry waiting to pull forward to load another car, 1 person being loaded into the back of a police car in hand cuffs, occupants of about another 10 cars being questioned...
Not a night to be going out unless you are law abiding................

Ive been out on the piss tonight in my local, very very quiet, waitress service, all behind masks, Had a great time! π
Pubs will definitely close down En masse after this, must be less than 20% income, yet they will have to pay rent etc

Having driven around Northwich area yesterday afternoon (car hired for Dentist tomorrow) there were quite a few folks out and a bout drinking outside in little groups and 1 way signs up etc.
I wanted to go in to the Stanley Arms but it just seemed to much kerfuffle - I DO feel for them... trying to abide by the rules to let them open, means having to put on more staff for "table service only" thus increasing their wage bills for considerably less income... it's pants.
There are financially some very worrying time ahead - I notice on the news this morning, Job centres are creating some new positions to "help"... My first confirmed paying guest is due on 9th August yet he's been very tardy in paying thus far - and the one after come to think of it... no one wants to part with their money until they arrive is what I'm feeling "in case" of regional lockdowns etc... which is understandable but NOT very conducive to paying bills.
HOW was your pub visit ianali ?

HOW was your pub visit ianali ? Had an excellent evening, thanks for asking. It was good to see some mates again. Lovely to feel normal(ish) for a few hours. Safety wise, i canβt see that it was worse than doing a supermarket shop. As I said though, itβs a fairly quiet and spacious club, not a small bar. From what Iβve heard of Nuneaton and other places, last night will either relaunch the virus, or show that we can live it whilst still socialising. Now, Iβve gotta dash, I have a boat to catch πππ

A quick update here... ON Sunday, having moved onto the Stanley Arms Mooring for 48 hours (so I could go to the dentist leaving the boat yesterday), we decided to phone up , book in and have a meal there...
They were friendly as usual but advised we needed to download the "Hopt" app to order and pay.
On doing so, it collects name and contact details and you link a payment method to it.
I have to admit, the "app" is clonky, but it removes the need to go the bar to order repeat drinks etc. There was no limit applied to what we could order (well we only had a few anyway) and the loos were Common sense approach with a sign saying let others leave before you go in.
The staff were trying to work around keeping SD whilst serving food - ie, they put it on the end of a table for 4 and we slid it in front of ourselves - all condiments were sachets, and no menus (other than on the app) were available.
I've never left such a big tip but wanted to try and give them a lift as it must be bloody awful for them.
We'll go back in again before we leave the area despite it not feeling very 'normal' just to show support for THEM in such a trying time.

Interesting to read quaysider ... but this could exclude us from pub visits. Jane's phone is jiggered and needs replacing (probably would have already been done but for the lock-down restrictions) so she's no down load space for any apps ... my phone's just a phone of course. For us it'll have to be payment by contactless or cash or we don't go, which is a shame. If we can get the boat into one of the marinas up there, we may train home from Northwich .., think it's permissable now ... need to check all's ok at home, check the car out, get Jane's hair sorted, and see family at last. May also get Jane's phone upgraded ... long overdue. Rog
