There are always those who reap financial benefit from any disaster.... From the self employed who've worked all the way through and still claimed the gov handout to the big men ripping off the millions in failed PPi supplies etc.... Those who really struggle are the ones who, whatever the disaster would always struggle. No-one ever said life had to be fair. However down here we do have on FB a Womans Swap Shop where everything is donated ..its free and the idea is for those who have very little to get stuff. I guess it doesn't stop those wanting to make money from selling it on but thats their choice. The kids are collecting for food banks from outside peoples houses. More and more here a Community is coming together and perhaps thats been the one good thing about this Pandemic in that people are really helping others. Maybe there is hope for the human race..or not.. Anyway enough of that... I support the local shops and don't buy much online... As for Christmas..I won't break any rule of 6..my cottage would be crowded(I don't do crowds)..trying to think of a acceptable reason to avoid Christmas dinner up the road....the "I want to sit in front of the telly with my dog n a glass(or 2) of vino" not an acceptable excuse apparently. I don't like having to walk home alone, to come into a house with just me..though suppose this year there will be Freya None of my business but it's the internet, so... Patty, you are too pliable, you know this. You were on the right track when you tried to escape onto a boat I reckon. Maybe you just didn't chug far enough away. I'd have another go if I were you - hide for a couple of years with your fingers in your ears singing la-la-la. They'll have got the idea by then not to over burdon you and it'll do them good and gain you respect. I once pointed out to mine perfectly seriously that if they push too far I'll feck off and they won't find me. Works a treat if they understand that you really mean it (even if you don't).

I'm quite amused by the spacing of the letters in the word "currency"
I was like "errr, what you do is chop the word(s) in half and start at the middle !"
So for "the currency" it would be 12 letters so the centre point would be between the U and the Arrrr.

The boat was the best decision that I ever made and yes its my biggest regret letting her go. At the time no option due to Horror House renovation costs. I do often think about 'What if' but dunno now if I could.

I saw a bloke with little arms cycling in Marlow today. He was actually quite a competent cyclist. They looked like thalidomide arms but the bike was adapted for it. Could have been something else. I was like "I'm not going to judge you on this but everyone is going to be looking at your arms and you are going to cause road accidents old chap " I feel sorry for the 'thalidomide generation'. Who would have guessed it was another thing given to everyone by the ever-so-nice Germans? "Thalidomide is a drug that was developed in the 1950s by the West German pharmaceutical company Chemie Grünenthal GmbH." Not at all the fault of those who were developed in an awkward way. They had no say in the matter. I would never laugh at a 'thalidomide person'. I hope Germany is giving them all ample compensation.

Certainly I've noticed what Ricco has noticed, the incredibly partisan coverage of news of the vaccine- somewhat akin to "If you don't believe in God, you will burn in Hell". I thought you went to a proper school? Didn't they teach you that debate is a healthy thing? Is it really outlandish to suggest that a vaccine developed in a matter of months cannot possibly have been tested to a satisfactory standard when the process normally takes 15 years? How can it have been tested on pregnant women and proven not to cause birth abnormalities when Covid has only been a thing for the same length of time as the female gestation period? And certainly yes, it is a hoax to the degree that the predicted dangers back in February has been nowhere near matched by the reality we have all seen in everyday life- not the television. The empty and deserted Nightingale Hospital at the NEC which I drove past this week is testament to that. If I choose not to have the vaccine, how does that detrimentally affect you in any way if you have had the vaccine? The reason why the nightingale hospitals weren’t used was because we had a lockdown that proved effective. You mean the 'lockdown' where planes from China, the origin of the virus, were allowed to land constantly at Heathrow? With Chinese students carted off by buses and trains to the universities which are making so much profit out of them? The Dean wants a new Range Rover don'tchaknow?

Nowhere have I seen any suggestion that the vaccine will be forcefully imposed. And now you have: "The NHS has been told to be ready to start giving out a coronavirus vaccine from the start of the December - and would get the Army’s help." Four Army twats sitting on you whilst a nurse injects you. I was once told by someone who had served in the UK Army "All you get in the Army is ignorance." Make of that what you will. It suggests to me that those who can't/won't study hard at school end up searching for a job in the Army as it's one last resort to get a bit of money for your fags and some free meals. Why were the Americans joking about how poorly equipped British squaddies were in Iraq? www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/nhs-told-ready-give-coronavirus-22985019

How can it have been tested on pregnant women and proven not to cause birth abnormalities when Covid has only been a thing for the same length of time as the female gestation period? On a point of order (pedantry) as there is no such thing as a male gestation period Of course there is, if you 'identify' as female. Lawrence Fox and J.K.Rowling are under attack for refuting this!!

Of course there is. If somebody identifies as a man and they become pregnant then they have a male gestation period. Get with the times, Mummy-O! Shirley, an fule kno males can't have babies, it's one of the defining factors. Misandrist!

Didn't we do this before?
The male gestation thing. I'm sure I've been through this movie before.

Is it possible these days to be against taking the vaccine and NOT be labeled an "antivaxxer". Could it be that some people have individual opinions about it rather than subscribing to a politicised belief system? Or is individual thought not allowed any more. It does seem that social media like facebook drives people into a group-thibk mentality and attempts to remove individual original patterns from people's brains. Probably as a way to make advertising work better... But but but... If you are against vaccines you are by definition an anti vaxxer. What if you are against this new 'Covid-19 vaccine' but happily accept other vaccines such as those for smallpox and clowns?

...And get the robots to do the work. If I remember the Matrix correctly, we end up being plugged into virtual reality and become the robots power source. We haven't quite got to the power source bit yet.... I expect the lying robots pretend they use 'environmentally friendly humans, but are really burning coal in their stoves and driving round in petrol-guzzling cars.

I'm sure they were talking about doing a vaccine without generating profits. Maybe this wasn't seen as a particularly attractive model after all. Insider trading anyone ? and its been better tested on us oldies you know the ones that need it. Peterboat after one month:

There is something desperately askew in this thread !!! I have given posts by Telemachus thumbs up. thrice !!! One pattern that has emerged from all this is that old people are hiding behind the sofa waiting for 'the miracle vaccine'. Young people are out and about, working, partying, and pretty much going about things as usual.
