Would lollygagger and Telemachus care to read what I posted again please ... I wrote "For my part (no drugs) I drink sometimes because I like it" Which part indicates any superiority or belief that alcohol is harmless, not addictive, or not a legal drug ? In any case the point was I occasionally choose my vice because I like it and NOT to find peace. Rog As Mr Lolly said, there is a lot more social harm done from alcohol than from cannabis. Although the latter isn’t harmless by any means. My point really is that due to its ubiquitousness, people such as yourself don’t consider alcohol to be a drug and draw a marked distinction between it and other drugs such as cannabis. This is irrational and I feel it is my duty to point that out to you, so that you won’t suffer from a continuing delusion. Is all. Oh and to answer your question, the part where you say “(no drugs)”. After much reflection and deep introspection I realise of course you're right. Forgive me please for making such a ridiculous statement but I occasionally forget myself and express an opinion. People 'such as myself' should know our place. Rog

I have smoked tobacco heavily, and cannabis occasionally, I have drunk alcohol, love coffee and chocolate and all manner of refined sugars ... however I have done none of these in pursuit of peace.

One does routinely see eg on TV soaps, people turning to drink when things are going badly for them. Not setting a great example and it never works! And of course it often seems to be used as a defence in court “yes your honour I was drunk when I ran over the child / punched someone in the street, but it was because I was upset due to it being the anniversary of my mother’s death / I’d fallen out with my girlfriend” etc etc. Judge unlikely to be impressed, however!

You're the one who introduced this "point of detail" by attempting to make a distinction between "drugs" and alcohol, for whatever reason, when you know very well that alcohol makes you squiffy or you wouldn't drink it!.

Yes you're totally correct ... your post is virtually word for word what I wrote ... apart from the bit that says something totally different. Perhaps you should consider that what you choose to infer from my post is your problem ... I only wrote the words which distinguished my vice of choice was alcohol not drugs ... and the point was I choose it as I enjoy it, not fo find peace (some chance of that here) Rog Disclaimer No intention to infer one vice is more or less superior ... oh forget it

But never mind, I don’t think you will ever get it. Brain probably addled due to too much “non-druggy alcohol”. Move on...

I post and accept ownership of my words ... your view on what you consider may be implied is yours Rog OK let me replace the words "Implicit in that statement is the view that alcohol isn’t a drug." with "You state that alcohol isn't a drug". Because that is what you said. Unless of course you have chosen to create a whole new language which sounds very much like English, but whose words have different meanings.

I was just randomly thinking (as I do normally), I wonder whether the outside of our brain really did get too big? I mean, I watch the ducks, sheep etc, and they seem pretty content most of the time. Even monkeys look content grooming eachother. Then many of us drink or take drugs to dumb the outer brain down a bit to give ourselves some peace. Is 'intellegence' really going to save the planet? After all it has coped for billions of years without us.... I'm not sure that's why many of us drink or take drugs ... 'peace' can be found without either. For my part (no drugs) I drink sometimes because I like it. Maybe my small brain is an advantage Rog This is getting silly. Read what I said ... you're quite bright, despite what Mr Stabby says. I realise you're unlikely to just accept you're wrong, but bizarrely this is like a thorn in my shoe ... I can't apologise when I NEVER said what you're criticising me for saying. Rog

Rog I agree dogless - we shouldn't be afraid to post our views on a public forum - who needs moderators when...... Perhaps we should just sigh and accept we each must take our turn at being an "ignorance fascist". Probably, like me, you went to a public school (open to all the kids off the estate!). Never mind x
