If only you knew! It was the left hander that was nearly curtains on the A508 - doesnβt bear thinking about now! 90 odd HP, 165/70/13 tyres of the ditch finder variety, no driver aids bar for a good hiding if the old mans motor ended up in the crusher. Hands of butter and feet of lead! These days itβs well over 215 BHP, AWD, Sticky Goodyearβs and 25 odd years of experience; most of the time I stick the cruise control on and let all happen around me! Oh how times change! Iβve recently rediscovered that cars are better without drivers aids. My westfield is now, hopefully, over 200bhp(rolling road booked) and weighing 500 kgs. No driver aids, just pure ability required. That may give me a problem π. Remind me - What flavour of Caterfield did you go for? My mate has recently sold his Westfield to go racing in a Ginetta G40.

Talking of fast cars, we bought a BMW I3 Rex yesterday, Today Jayne discovered just how fast electric cars are, apparently 0 - 30 is quicker than the V8 BMW M3, 0 - 60 its a close run thing as well! The upshot was Jayne showed a hot hatch a clean pair of heels coming out of a roundabout he nearly blew it up trying to catch her, she was oblivious to what she had done

I see VW have copied it with the ID3.
That's a very similar name I am impressed they got away with that.
And of course Tesla model 3 which would be the model E if the darned Ford hadn't nabbed that one ! Tesla wanted the S E X and Y for their range which is understandable.
How does the i3 do with those thin tyres?
I like thin tyres as it improves efficiency but I wonder how it deals with power transfer to the tarmac.

It has bigger tyres on the rear than front, it also has 50 50 weight distribution, the plus side is its also made of carbon fibre and aluminum so very light and strong. traction wise and handling its very sure footed

And I was like "depreciation"
Isn't it.
Good value second hand but 135 tyres?
That's quadricycle territory.

I once had a traffic light drag race with a silly stickered-up XR2i when driving a Prius. It left it cold. But that stuff is all bollocks. What's the range and recharge time?

I do often wonder how long it will take to get past the "this car beats the other guy from the lights and you are going to get to your destination before he gets to his destination" thing.
It seems to me to be a bit of an instinct thing. To quote Survivor "it's the thrill of the fight, risin' up to the challenge of our rival".
The obvious problem is that humans now live in a modern society where shit loads of people are driving cars. It is fundamentally irrelevant whether you get back to your home quicker than the other person gets back to their home. It doesn't amount to a hill of beans.
0-62 or was it 0-60?
Enjoy the ride.

I think there was similar talk about the MG Meastro turbo having a very narrow edge over the RS at a very specific speed range - that little win could never be enough to want one over an Escort!

Yeah but, fast cars and bikes give you warm fizzy feeling when you nail them - particularly if you annihilate some body else that thinks they are a bit quick ππ»π

There are daily reports of carnage and death in the news and it seems to me the majority are the work of deluded incompetent fools. The car is a convenience and all that interests me is how to get to where I'm going with the least hassle (and expense).
