The van failed its mot on a couple of things. The main thing being a small rust hole in front of the spring hanger. Thought I'd finally have a go at welding a vehicle. Cut all the rot out and sprayed it with weld through primer, disconnected the battery, found a bit of decent metal and cut it up and sprayed that too. Just got to remember how to weld. Went to the tip the other day to get rid of all that clematis and picked up a creeper that was still wrapped. So spent the afternoon under the van with and the angle grinder and a tub of rust killer. I've got white hamerite and a big tin of underseal. I've been meaning to do it for a year so did a quarter. Will continue another day. The inside got the same treatment last week.

Yes the R5GT would be close to the top for me. Mk1 Escort Mexico would top I it think, followed by the RS Cosworth, love a bit of rear wheel drive sliding round traffic islands action.. All of which now cost tens of thousands π± Sitting here wondering what car to put in the garage for a rainy day, did look at getting a Honda S2000 but they have pretty much doubled in price in the last five years so to late on that one. I think a MK1 Audi TT 3.2l V6 might be a good bet. I almost bought a Merc 500SL with hard and soft tops in 2008 for Β£6k ! The boxy older type. White with black leather. Nice car that was and a different life. It was in excellent condition I expect whoever did buy it might have seen something of a value increase lately !

Yes it was one of those ones.
I wonder if the next batch of SL cars will do as well. Merc had some build quality issues early 90s I believe the tin worm got to work.
Got my Darda cars and the one with the best motor is the Merc 500 SEC.
Another real world car that will get interesting.
I had a drive of a friend's 500SE he picked up for Β£500 about ten years ago that was a nice motor. Scrap but amazing to drive !!
ETA this was why I was tempted by a CLS500 recently but I can't have fast cars as it causes problems so I went for the little Suzuki micro SUV instead.
