Somebody did otherwise they wouldnt have passed a bylaw. If I am honest Jenlyn I dont want to live in Rotherham anymore it has serious issues that wont be sorted any time soon. If not on the boat I am with my other half in Chesterfield The smokeles fuel law in London has been in place for decades. It was not introduced for the sake of a few boats. Flippin eck, you don't half come out with some silly stuff lol. I'm wondering if your in fact banged up in Wakefield nick. Hence your erratic use of the internet. Do you have to hide the phone each time a screw checks on you?

You obviously believe you have "lost" the argument as you have reduced yourselves to this childish "Nah nah nanah nah" this is the sort of childish behaviour that we complained about on CWDF where you couldn't have discussions about emotive problems without people getting childish

Certainly haven't lost any argument no more than you have won it or Peterboat for that matter. You are right about the childishness but I have had thirty five years of listening to the same old Mantra regarding continuing cruisers and its wearing thin,The only change to the narrative was when you touched on subsidised mooring for key workers. Some people want to deny the facts and thats always difficult to deal with. Its not loosing or winning its the inability to progress for entrenched positions.

the thing I find incredible is that you don't seem to realise that the "same old mantra" just as easily applies to your views and anyway it's not about cruisers it's about non cruisers, people using boats as housing because they can't get social housing

Look at it this way for a moment John, firstly we have to accept where we are in this moment of time,it is pointless stating whats permissible and whats not, what we would like and what we wouldn't, it is what it is, a multiple user amenity creaking into decline for various reasons and some of them CRTS creation as much as Boaters. Take Jenlyn for example,I know he has some experience of the issues attending meetings and representing and progressing boating matters and to be fair I met him years ago and for various reasons had no contact but I come to realise that he has a genuine interest and I want to hear what he thinks and others like him, talk of smokeless fuel is a waste of all our time. I am a great detail man I like to hear it point by point,on the Brexit thread I want to be persuaded of the benefits of being IN and instead I have a Europhile Demagogue who won't answer any points that don't come from his own perspective, thats his own words not mine.

A continuous cruiser license is incompatible with having any ties in any community be it a job or kids at school.Lack of social housing and affordable moorings put these people here,CRT have no authority to refuse a boat a license on the grounds of overcapacity so it keeps on growing. I respect and agree with most of what you say but your an idealist where I am a realist All day long I have read posts decrying the social housing boater how it shouldn't be allowed, clogging up the network and somehow its being construed I am asserting some rights for that lifestyle,I am not because like it or not its already here,I want to debate how its managed

Right we are on agreement on some stuff here. You say the law doesnt compel them a distance but it does say onwards navigation or words to that effect so to clarify that CRT said 20 miles per year they were being reasonable I mean half a mile a week its nowt is it? If they had said 300 miles a year that would be reasonable to some but impossible to others. I know that CRT will win this battle because judges see this small mileage and see it as small and reasonable distance, or that is how it is working at the moment. I wouldnt ever want CRT to put a cap on the numbers joining the canals, it would not be fair equally people have to be fair in their dealings with CRT, I have been [they nearly sank my boat in a lock so I have a right to hold a grudge] and our relationship has been on the whole good. Maybe I have just been lucky? apart from the 18 inches of water in my boat that is!!!!

Peter listen for a moment and try and take in what I say,it says bona fide navigation which means in good faith.20 miles is a recommendation not the law. CRT will not win the battle because they have already given the battle up.To win the battle over distance would take a new ACT OF PARLIAMENT and that isn't happening. Instead CRT if they are unhappy with your distance revoke your license then go to court on the basis that instead of the boat not moving enough it is now unlicensed and has to be removed from the water. This apparently has happened six times in London and each time CRT have been defeated.this is where CRT are over moving distance. Please think about what is written. Meanwhile some like me and you think 20 mile is reasonable,no problem with that and 20 miles is what we do.The possible problem is that 20 miles this year could be 120 next year.
