Fair shout, I wouldn't want to mix with them either. But 40 odd years of being alone. Just so long as I had some reading material. I don’t think inmates are given books anymore, just tv’s.

Unless there are wholly exceptional compassionate reasons he will never be released as there is no parole. The sentence must be served Does anyone know if anyone has ever been released after being given a whole life sentence? I recall something being overturned once bit I've no idea. He has made history as being the first murderer to receive the sentence after only kiling one person, outside of a terror attack.

There are so many things that are wrong with the penal system, including warehousing those who will never be released.

The death penalty is a tricky one.
While I agree with it in principle, I'm not sure any government or judge wants to be the one to issue it to an innocent person.
Hopefully this copper gets his own death sentence carried out by inmates.

So why do you think he will ever be released? My only thought would be on appeal of the sentence in that its too high for a single murder but the judge was very clear as to why he gave the whole life sentence.

My bet is he'll commit suicide. But maybe not, his reported remorse may well be something he will get over.

I don’t know why I think he will be released, but time will tell. Oh by the way reggie kray had his whole life order overturned on compassionate grounds and three ira members had their whole life orders overturned and where released under the good Friday agreement. It’s at the Home Secretary’s discretion. So while this is a highly emotional issue now, not so much in 12 years time.

Time will tell but the fat he was a serving police officer means he is in the worst category - a traitor. At least we can derive some satisfaction knowing his time in prison, however long, will be miserable beyond most experiences and lived in fear. A good thing. One other thing though - while I have no sympathy that this individual will suffer at the hands of other prison inmates, that reality highlights one of the major flaws of the penal system.

Wasn't reggie kray released because he was about to die anyway and couldn't even walk. The good Friday deal is irrelevant. There was something much bigger at play. Maybe Reggie was the one I could remember.

While not a whole-life sentence, it was shocking that Colin Pitchfork was recently paroled. I can't help but feel that it was a decision motivated primarily by considerations of cost.

On having a look, it may be the case that they were only given life sentences with a minimum term of 30 years, not whole life orders. Which I also presumed.
Obviously one died before the minimum term was up but Reggie had done over 30 years on his release.
I'm aware of whole life sentences, but just having a look at what is below.
Ot appears the sentence the krays received is now the one after whole life.
Then the minimum term before parole drops to 25 years and so on.
Even if his sentence is overturned he will have the next available sentence of a minimum period of 30 years.
Kn which he will be 78 when released, no doubt to a new identity.

Already said that I just don't like the word.To me-cock,willy,dick etc sound funny.Perhaps they don't to a bloke-fair enough. Lady garden, tuppence, china, halfpenny, down below seem to me to be more acceptable- so don't think I'm being hypocritical.I just don't like the word-END OF ! In the Oxford Companion to Ships and the Sea under the entry "cunt splice" it says "the old name for what is now called a cut splice"
In a book I have, published just pre WWII, in the instructions for parcelling and serving it says "worm the cable in the cunting" which means laying cord or selvagee spirally along the grooves of the cable before serving
on other perfectly correct terms now considered "rude" the type of knife with two protuberances on the handle where it joins the blade is correctly termed a "bollock dagger"
Havent heard "cunt splice" since my days in the fishing industry, it wasn't something we made or used in the offshore oil & gas industry. Tubs of mussels were also similarly nicknamed back then, but I suspect that has fallen out favour as well.

Ps you’ll probably get a whole life tariff when Tony drags you into court.😀
