There is a big thing going on with engine idling in Tower Hamlets as well.
While this -does- only apply to road vehicles one can understand why residents would wish to apply it to boats.
I do understand where the nbta are coming from and I understand their viewpoint but logic dictates that too much shouty behaviour results in more people noticing and something being done to sort it out.
Local councils can do things. It might take them a while but if it needs sorting out they will find a way to sort it out in favour of residents not travellers.

So it seems the environmental act 1990 has just been amended so that boats fall under its jurisdiction as well as buildings. CRT were suggesting this would happen 2 years ago, but nobody was interested. They were informative on how the councils would be using it, and were offering us the opportunity to get involved. The recent London boaters who have been issued with orders were always going to be the first subjected to any order, given quite a few of the idiots throw any old crap onto their fires. What pisses me off is the fact that other councils will see his and use it themselves to get rid of boats in certain areas. London boaters are more trouble than they are worth, pisstakers. Oops Consistency? This is becoming a common habit by some on Thunderboat. Assume seems to be the byword. Well you’re wrong. Many of the London boaters do actually have defra approved stoves, and were installing them a few years ago when all this started to kick off. Get your facts right Andrew or shut up. Yet again you are blabbering on about something you have no idea about.

Yet again you are blabbering on about something you have no idea about. My point in the first instance was aimed at boaters in general. You’re posts do have some consistency though, assumption, assumption, assumption. Then look for a loophole to get out of the claptrap you’ve posted. You would fit in well with the blonde blobs team.

Interesting idea. You mean someone who works in the background to really fuck it all up badly?

What amuses the most is that the target if your diatribe changes according to whichever objection is made. So the LB crowd are in the prick book, but then they're not. You should be the spokesman for the Ministry of Love.

Anyway rather than the investigation of the personalities involved, what about the issue. The council effectively making an area a no mooring area with out any authority.

That is the elephant in the room yes. Of course the area around Islington tunnel has been altered recently to become an "eco mooring" which apparently involved DEFRA cart and local authority. It's certainly interesting. It isn't a "no mooring" area. Perhaps not an appropriate spot for winter mooring due to proximity to buildings but you can still moor there. It's a crap mooring though. That pound often goes low and there is a shelf. Lucky the local resident who wanders about at 1am has not got a windlass Also a few druggies always around there in very close proximity to the boats and no towpath lighting. Not ideal. Oh yes and the cyclists doing 20mph on a metre wide surfaced towpath is not all that pleasant.

I get the idea you don’t like the place? To me I don’t really understand why anybody would live on a boat then live in a city. One of the reasons I like living aboard is the possibility to moor in the countryside ( what’s left of it in this country.)

I think we’ll done this Mike on London boaters who has written the complaint and says he is moving to the area and will challenge through the proper channels this behaviour by the council that’s the kind of direct action we need. When we see “authorities” acting questionably.
