Interesting how the poll on Johnson resigning went. Initially everyone seemed to be like "yeah yeah yeah" but a substantial number voted for "no".
Intriguing.

It's just convenience. It's such a powerful driver of behaviour.
I dislike using the Google maps thing and have deliberately programmed "work" as the boat location to throw them off the scent but the algo rhythms must be working away trying to get the advertising right.
My older daughter who is now 11 used the word "algorithm" yesterday in normal conversation. It's just part of life. They don't have their own internet access or phones but I guess they will at some point.
They both want to have button-only mobile phones for doing calls, which is encouraging.

So once Crossrail is complete you agree it will go somewhere proper... I thought you said it was complete already (??). Looks like Crossrail will take you to Paddington and then on to Abbey Wood / Shenfield. But it's not like a proper direct train from Heathrow to, say, Trafalgar Square/King's Cross, in 10-15 minutes. Gawd...! No it's not complete and I didn't say it was. How about a direct train to Oxford Street or Liverpool Street or Canary Wharf - would that be ok?

It's pretty obvious that people will use bank cards and mobile phones more and more. It's inevitable this will happen. There will remain people who can't for one reason or another or don't want to but the vast majority will use these. Most probably mobile phones will take over because of the appeal of having one device to to everything. I personally baulk at having a phone linked to bank account but do use contactless debit card all the time. It is part of human nature to be drawn to convenience. TFL have been trying for a long time to get rid of oyster, it has substantial cost issues for them. The problem is, it’s a popular asset for heavy users, and is much preferred over other payment options. They have been putting out all sorts of bumf in order to discourage people from using oyster, and the sad thing is, the pandemic has been their saviour. I have the Lobster Card. It's like the Oyster Card except you get to sit in First Class.

I think I needed a clam card when I was out walking around in the more seedy parts of London's inner east end.

The idea of travelling at 12mph while surrounded by the Lower Orders with their fleas, nits and lice doesn't bear thinking about for a man of my calibre.

Actually none of those are much of a problem on LT, it’s the constant foreign jabbering that pissed me off.

I have occasionally lowered myself to traveling on London buses in recent years. one of the things that irritates me is that people always look at me like I am some sort of celebrity.
One suspects deep down that they are aware of my upper class roots and are confused somehow as to why I would be anywhere near them.
It's quite amusing but as Mrs Tabby says not ideal.

Why would you when you have ready access to the clockwork banana and the Red Meringue. I know my place. Rog

This is possible however I usually avoid wearing it on buses as it can lead to consequences the nature of which I prefer not to discuss.

I did mention that I would have preferred to have not discussed it.
