This is the very thing the modernists of the 1920s were so concerned with. Imagine the outrage if TikTok was banned. I think we are living in the world they saw coming. I suppose it was the mass industrialisation after the First World War that has got us to where we are now. Personally I blame it all on Jethro, the tight git.

Our kids never have internet without parental supervision*. They understand the reason for this.
One of the kids in my 10 year old daughters class has an "iPhone pro max 12" or something like that. Apart from anything else why would anyone expose their small children to the danger of mobile phone theft ? She walks to school by herself in inner east London. Ok this good for growing up but 10 year old? Really?
People are nicking valuable mobiles all the time. Never mind the phone it's the nastiness of having it taken which I would be worried about.
Neither of my kids have their own phones. 10 and 12.
They do use internet but it is managed and they understand the dangers.
*By this I don't mean the parent is watching the screen but they are present within a social distance of 1 or 2 metres and basically aware of what the children are doing.

Maybe he thought the whole thing about ten year old children strangling themselves as much as possible without dying was a bit negative?
Negative or not it is reality and I see from googling that other kids have died from similar things.
To be fair in the good old days you did situations where kids hid in dumped fridges and were unable to get out and died. I suppose it's not all that different. Just kids having fun etc.

But I didn’t feel people on the thread where falling into negativity about it. I see the reality of the world we live in, but some how seem to be able to remain positive. This includes the future prospect of living on a boat on an operational waterways network. I do have friends who call me an eternal optimist though.

I used to manage the internet of my bosses 14year old son remotely. There was nothing he could do on his laptop without me knowing. It became a war of attrition for a couple of years as to who was the smartest. It all started when his mother caught him googling "Bare naked Ladies" he insisted it was the band he was looking for 🤭

It would seem to make popping into the cabin to make a nice cuppa somewhat problematic.

Camp ‘chopper style’ bike on rear of boat at Ellesmere…Would be ideal for @a to ‘mince’ around Londonium on.👍

Cheap as chips and doesn't have a crapola catalytic exhaust. I bet getting the thing on the rack must always be an interesting experience.
I once owned a CX500C. Questionable looks to be sure (I've always thought a factory custom is a contradiction in terms) but a fantastically comfy mile-muncher. Also it had hard panniers so it could haul a lot of gubbins.

I bet getting the thing on the rack must always be an interesting experience. He's probably got a ramp which attaches to that rack- it appears to have a hole at the end to affix such a ramp- but yes, I would imagine it's still a tricky operation.

There must be a point at which a fine sense of balance becomes critical.
