Yes as I said earlier naughtyfox , Monday was the 537th anniversary of the battle. Who knows ... if the Plantagenets had won we'd probably all be Catholic under the yoke of Rome. Rog

Some would suggest your awareness of what you don't know demonstrates great wisdom Rog My careers teacher told me I would amount to nothing in life. My school years were spent βwagging itβ but learnt a lot about fishing and golf. Was a good golfer back then. I could also pull apart, and put back together any petrol engine you put in front of me. Despite my teachers doubts I have made a pretty decent life for myself and family. Big part of this is down to Ali, my driving force back in the days when we set up a company. There is more to education than paper qualifications I guess.

'Education isn't the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.'
Creating a passion and urgency to learn in someone, doesn't have to involve books.

Well we're on the Ashby now. Levels okay ... as low as usual to be honest. No sign of lampiniafloat ... not heard from Jane for a long time sadly. A massive construction site on the south side of Nuneaton near the Griff Arm ... distribution centres apparently providing over 400 jobs. Any idea what companies twerp2 (Asleep) ? Rog I have no idea Rog, i know they are building on the old farm as you come out of Nuneaton past the griff arm, but all you can see is a big industrial unit going up, more than likely up for rent soon. On the left also a shed load of new houses! Ive not seen Jane for a while also, the boat always appeared empty when i passed, Her husband was ill, fingers crossed all is good! Haloo... sorry if anyone's been worried or owt - we have moved to Trinity Marina! Hubby has been through the wringer rather (as have i) - but that mooring had silted up summink horrid, and unless you're in and out all the time re-blasting it with the prop.. forget it! Also Jon doesn't drive and we both felt his recovery would be helped by being able to walk in/out of town and not being so isolated, kinda thing! He is now cancer-free and on the waiting list for the stoma reversal operation.. Hope thats not TMI! Now i have to say a word or twelve in praise of the new-ish Manager of Trinity - he's put us in a fab spot ans i can see the boats go by from my front door. Its now got a fence around it (the Marina - not my front door!) which has made a significant difference to the feel of the place.. a lot less random-y, if ya know what i mean! All facilities working just fine, and Max the Manager lives aboard and is a proper dude.. I really like it here! Oh, and ironically - we've done more actual boating since we've been here than we have in the last 2 years :-) Now the issue is that i think my mum is in the early stages of dementia (bloods taken this morning, so no diagnosis yet) - sometimes the poo just keeps on piling up.... Oh and they're about to start building on the field next to Duck Bend between Stoke Golding and Dadlington - so enjoy those moorings whilst you can! Pip Pip..

Last time we came this way (2019) we had a fabulous meal in the Rising Sun at Shackerstone ...a really vibrant, busy but friendly pub with good snap and friendly staff and customers.
We were looking forward to going again.
Called in at 2.30pm with a view to booking a table. A rather portly, unfriendly lady behind the bar said "We don't do food".
That was the extent of the interaction ... so I kept my cash and moved on ... really disappointing.
