Just wondered how the water levels were managing if anyone's on there or indeed just left.
Based on Atherstone locks levels I'm guessing okay.
Thinking of a detour up there for a week or so.

Yup, levels are fine at Sutton Cheney, about where you would expect for this time of the year.

Having just quickly glanced through the 'Lock restrictions to save water' thread and then noticing this one, I reckon a 'restriction' that's affecting Alice and a few of the other thundergoons the most is the self-imposed one on thinking.
This thread begins - "Just wondered how the water levels were managing if anyone's on there or indeed just left. Based on Atherstone locks levels I'm guessing okay."
Levels - plural - sounds as if it's the pounds down Atherstone he's on about, rather than the level of the Atherstone Pound itself. Either way, . . someone should tell Alice about how water finds its own level. If he wants to know what the water level's like up to Snarestone, all he needs to do is to have a look at it at the top of Atherstone.
Quick DIY history/intelligence test for all the thundergoons - and anyone else who wants to have a go.
There's been no Northerley or Southerly winds of any strength for the last few days, . . and the stop lock at the Moira Cut End was dismantled long ago. What effect will this have on the water level in what is -- apart from the Lancaster Canal, with severely and unnecessarily restricted access only via the Ribble Link -- the longest pound on the whole canal network ?

About a quarter to two in the afternoon but sometimes earlier.

What about the influence of The Moon's gravity on the level of any pound? "The moon's gravity pulls at the Earth, causing predictable rises and falls in sea levels known as tides. To a much smaller extent, tides also occur in lakes and canal pounds, the atmosphere and within Earth's crust. High tides refer to water bulging up from Earth's surface, and low tides when water levels drop." It may well be best to navigate the Ashby Canal during a 'Full Moon' or a 'New Moon'.

Threads done Dunkers, i popped up this morning and looked at the waterline and level of water, told me all i needed to know that the level was no worse for this time of the year than it normally is, no need for checking wind speeds to anything else.

With advice issued earlier in the year that levels are low in this very long pound, the Ashby may have been little used.
It's shallow at best ... if little used it may have become worse than ever.
Thank you for your concern.

Spent part of my first winter on board 1994/95 on the Ashby. Quite liked the remoteness actually.

When did Alice become a "he"?
Its all quite exciting this gender reassignment thing.
Have you ever considered becoming a woman? It might help you.
It is amazing what they can do these days.
