It's a shame, you may make some great points but they just get lost, covered by by insults. Opening up a discussion on the matter makes it easier to see someone else's viewpoint. The insults just make people do the same in return and ignore the discussion at hand. Tony doesn't make 'great points'; he makes statements designed to inform the reader that Tony knows more about everything than anybody who reads his shit and, most frequently, that everyone else is stupid. This includes you. Isn't six years of this tripe enough to convince you that Tony is an unbearable prick? I did say may.

There are a couple of other boating forums available if people wish to avoid the insults.
Just saying, like...
Me then? Who said I don't like the insults. They don't bother me. Perhaps if you read my post, you'd understand. I wasn't involved in the discussion.

. . . . . . ( in a post on TheUnstableBar) The big question now is I don't know what Tony posted, but having found the loophole did he use it as a chance to to be nice and show what his intentions are in wanting to join or did he use to post rubbish? I dont post rubbish, . . I post factual material on subjects that I know, . . and I don't wrap my opinions up in a lot of hypocritical double talk either. It's that bit many (well, some) of us DO appreciate, TonyDunkley.

There's a topic over on CWDF in which the matter of Commercial Boat Services (C&RT's prime contractors for the seizing and transporting away of Section 8'd boats) and their frequent reluctance to sell on these Section 8'd boats, sometimes preferring to scrap them instead, has been raised in dicussion. < www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?/topic/54625-historic-boats-for-sale-online/page/368/ > The reason for this strange reluctance on the part of CBS, . . which will no doubt come as quite a surprise to most, . . is that the Section 8'd boats have come into their possession, illegally, by way of a long running fraud scam that the C&RT has perfected and practiced since inheriting it from BWB. Each fraud operation is initiated by C&RT's so-called Legal & Governance Services by way of the C&RT (the Claimant) making what it knows to be an inappropriate, dishonest, and wholly unnecessary application to the Courts, under Part 8 of the Civil Procedure Rules, for an Order for what is technically called Declaratory and Injunctive Relief. These (Court) Orders, as their name indicates, serve two distinct and separate purposes in the one single Order, and are strictly limited in power and scope to the two specified functions only. The first part of each Order - the Declaration - is just what it says it is, and does nothing more than state that the Court agrees that the Trust is entitled to act pursuant to (ie. within and NOT beyond) its statutory powers under Sections 8 and 13 (respectively) of the British Waterways Acts of 1983 and 1971 (respectively). It is important to note that this Court issued 'Declaration' does NOT authorize or 'order' anything beyond the statutory powers that the C&RT already has at its disposal under the relevant sections of the 1983 and 1971 Acts. The second part of each Order - the Injunction - works differently in that unlike the first part - the Declaration - this second part does place the boatowner (the Defendant) under specific obligations and instructions that, if not fully complied with by the boatowner, can result in any one, or all, of a number of penalties (sanctions) being imposed by the Court. A warning to this effect is printed on every one of the Court Orders that C&RT obtains preparatory to fraudulently seizing the subject vessel. The warning states :- If you do not obey paragraphs 2) and 3) of this Order then you may be held in contempt of Court and imprisoned or fined, or your assets may be seized. It is this warning that C&RT dishonestly and fraudulently uses as a means by which to fool both the boatowner (the Defendant) and the Police into believing that the seizure and transporting away of a Section 8'd boat is a lawful act ordered by the Court, . . but in truth, and in the terms of the Court Order itself, this is NOT so. Imprisonment, fining, or the seizing of assets are penalties/sanctions for the Court alone to impose following a second application to the Court by the Claimant asking for the terms of the Injunction to be enforced by the Court. Knowingly exceeding the scope or power of any Court Order, or assuming the powers and authority of the Court, . . as the C&RT invariably does whenever it 'seizes' a Section 8'd boat, . . is unlawful, fraudlent, and a serious Contempt of Court. This is why Commercial Boat Services are frequently so cagey about selling on seized Section 8'd boats, . . they know full well that the boats aren't theirs or C&RT's to sell, . . and that selling them on to someone else turns the fraud committed during the unlawful seizure into outright theft.

There is a doc on Youtube with this George guy in it, he seems nice enough but seems to have been a thorn in CRT's side for quite a few years now (I think the doc is at least a few years old). I seem to remember there was a crowdfunding page for him at one point after a boat sunk which caused some debate about its condition. He sadly seems to think that some of what CRT expect of every boater doesn't apply to him, and it's all a bit sad. I seem to remember he was making some threat of harm in response to threats of CRT action all the way back then and nothing seems to have changed.

Is it just me,or does he look like a more drunken, manic version of Bobby Ball but without the charm ??

I seem to remember there was a crowdfunding page for him at one point after a boat sunk which caused some debate about its condition. He sadly seems to think that some of what CRT expect of every boater doesn't apply to him, and it's all a bit sad. I seem to remember he was making some threat of harm in response to threats of CRT action all the way back then and nothing seems to have changed. There have been a good many assorted versions of George Ward type characters on our inland waterways for a very long time, . . I can remember some of them back as far as the 1950's, . . so they must have been around even before that. Eccentrics and crackpots, . . every one of them. What was so very different back in those days, was how navigation authorities controlled and dealt with them, . . including when, if necessary and justified, getting rid of them and their often dilapidated boats or houseboats. By the late 1960's British Waterways had something of an increasing problem with sunken, derelict or abandoned boats of varying types and origins laying around in the canals and river navigations under their control. One of the reasons for the introduction of the British Waterways Acts of 1971 and 1983 was to improve and extend the somewhat ill-defined or inadequate existing powers that BWB had at its disposal for dealing with and disposing of such craft. The 'George Ward' saga need never, and should never, have been allowed to develop and grow into the almighty shambles it has become. C&RT has always had appropriate and lawful means of resolving this sort of problem at its disposal, but in customary C&RT fashion the Trust's useless management and its spitefully corrupt lawyers chose instead to go down their beloved Sections 8 and 13 road, a process which, never having been drafted or intended for the use to which C&RT now put these powers, leads to the unnecessary creation of a needlessly costly and long drawn out shambles from the start. Which is why I posted the following a day or two ago on another TB thread :- "To clear up any misunderstandings there might be over my describing the treatment of George Ward at the hands of C&RT and its corrupt lawyers as 'unfair', . . it is quite simply that this man IS being treated unfairly in that he is being subjected to yet another instance of C&RT misusing and abusing inappropriate statutory powers to resolve a shambolic mess which it, as the navigation authority, should never have created nor then allowed to develop in the first place. The origins of the long running George Ward saga rest squarely with C&RT's obsession with its own customary abuse and misuse of the statutory powers it enjoys - quite literally 'enjoys', . . hugely - under Sections 8 and 13 of the British Waterways Acts of 1983 and 1971 respectively, . . when in truth the initial problems with George Ward's boat(s) could have been, and SHOULD have been, addressed initially via the procedurally correct, and lawful, application or use of the 1976 Licensing Byelaws, the statutory powers specifically for the 'Recovery of Charges' and 'Control of Unsafe Vessels' under Sections 5 and 7 respectively of the !983 Act, and the statutory powers applicable under Sections 17 and 18 of the 1995 Act."

Just curious but please post a link. Viewer discretion required as there are some incredibly tedious people who might cause psychological traumas. Thanks. Having watched it I remember looking at it ages ago. It's a damn shame abou t the Higgledy Piggeldy girl and her child; the pedal power thing was great, but seemingly inadequate to a 30 mile cruising range. I didn't connect George with the vid till you highlighted it, he comes across as merely eccentric, I was expecting something else. Just goes to show one must never presume. What a great thing it might have been if Dunk had done a vlog. 😊

I found the woman with the kid intensely irritating and also very rude for bringing the child into her entitlement problem.
At the end of the day she was living on a towpath. Deal with it and accept that you don't have a right to be there.
Give people an inch and they take a mile.
