They don't work for free, but they do work for less, and all of the other costs involved in running a business- such as land values for operating centres etc- are substantially lower, being a post-Communist economy. That's why people such as Mrs Thatcher and red-tie Tories such as yourself were so keen on using eastern Europeans to undercut the cost of working class labour in the UK. Such a boon to us all that working class heroes such as yourself fixed it for everyone by getting the UK out of the despotic EU with all the benefits that have subsequently made themselves apparent to anyone with eyes. Ah, yes, the archetypal brexit voter, No Eye Deer.

Well, when the eu did its big expansion in 2004, nearly every eu member state placed a seven-year embargo on eastern Europeans being allowed to work in their territories, whereas Tony Blair saw the chance for himself and his Tory chums to clean up and so allowed them in to undercut the native workforce. So blame Blair for Brexit.

Blair and Brown have a lot to answer for. Saving the poor from death by improving the NHS, improvements now reversed by the tories. Cull the poor by stealth.

So blame Blair for Brexit. I'm fairly sure that, following many posts attesting to the case, that the 'majority' of the UK voted for Brexit. And look at all the long-term pay rises and unlimited work the lorry drivers (who were part of the majority) received and are still receiving, to say nothing of reclaiming British sovereignty and taking back control of our borders etc etc. Shall we mention the many global free-trade deals our gov has won for the country now it is free of the shackles? No? Ok then. ETA Now that I think about it...(it is Sunday morning, give me a break) isn't "Tony Blair saw the chance for himself and his Tory chums to clean up" a tacit admission that Brexit is actually a shit-show by shifting blame from the 'majority' of the electorate (championed by Boris 'millions for the NHS' Johnson) elsewhere?

No? Ok then. It was only a Majority of those who voted, a small majority at that. How many believed the lies and promises by a proven liar, now disgraced and who fell on his own little pen knife before he was chucked out.

Unsuccessfully, it seems.

Since Andrew has added a new word to the TB lexicon, it is now much easier to analyse why Brexit happened.
A bunch of xenophobic low-intelligence ultracrepidarians, largely unified under a distorted sense of British nationalism, revealed a surprisingly large degree of collective boneheaded stupidity when given the opportunity to publicly express their worst aspects to the world in a binding vote that will negatively affect the fate of the nation for at least several generations.
It also proved the truth of the sentiment that you should never trust anyone older than 30.
Democracy is a failure.

Our friends (older than us) with whom we have gone boating for the last 6 times we have hired, have just (Friday) expressed an interest in another narrow boat holiday. This is a little unexpected as they have both had major health issues in recent years. They are obviously feeling better, so I have been tasked with arranging it, as usual. This is the purpose of my post: due to other commitments I think this will now be 2024 and my instructions are “ don’t take me through fucking Birmingham again”. So where should we go? I fancy oop north, but stoppages? Breaches? Low water? I don’t intend spending thousands only to be marooned with nowhere to go. All answers gratefully recieved, I reserve the right to be rude to windup merchants.. Alyson
