And they are one of the biggest consumers of electric cars per head of population.
Funny contradiction in a number of different ways.
I have seen, and nearly run over by, more EV here in London during the past week, than I have seen over the whole of last year up in the midlands.London in many ways, could be in a different country. Maybe it is because there are more charging points in Westminster than Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool Leeds and Sheffield put together. Back to the original post, why not consider a Thames cruiser. They look very comfortable and as long as you have a roll of selfalmagating tape to cover up the pressure valves on the water taps you can have an interesting time.

I had the impression that dyertribe didn't wish to travel too far but if the Home Counties are in range then I would be considering the electric (with diesel generator) narrow boat on the river Wey. I saw it a few yars ago and it looked rather good. Don't know if it is still running but a google of electric narrow boat river wey farncombe would probably find it. The river Wey is actually very pleasant in a number of different ways.

They kept state control of the oil and gas. And they are one of the biggest consumers of electric cars per head of population.

Loads of YouTubers with EVs posting at the moment about how much more expensive an EV is to run than an ICE. Huge depreciation, charging costs more than petrol or diesel, massive tyre wear due to weight etc etc etc. It's all a con anyway, the best thing for the environment would be if God rained hellfire and damnation on every single car factory on the planet and said we had to make do with what we already have because there won't be any new cars. A bit like in Cuba. A few weeks ago I heard of a serviceable and reliable Rover 75 going to the scrapyard because it needed a new clutch slave cylinder and the owner had "replaced it once in the past and didn't want to do it again". How mad is that?

I'm amazed how long the conman Musk has managed to keep Tesla afloat.
At some point it is all going to crash and burn but the volatility is amazing. I don't engage in investing or anything like that but that particular stock is a bit of a gem for making money if you can see the patterns.
Ride the wave I guess.

I'm amazed how long the conman Musk has managed to keep Tesla afloat. He's a bit like that bloke who owns Dyson. Invented a product that is shittier in every way than the product that had been around for a hundred years and then managed to sell millions to gullible idiots with money to burn by persuading them that they were "smarter than the average bear". A triumph of marketing over engineering.

I actually bought a "pre-loved" bagless vacuum cleaner. On ebay, from a bloke in Rugby. A Hoover rather than a Dyson but it's all much of a muchness.
I think I paid £15 for it and the exact same model was on sale at the time for well over £100.
I knew exactly what the story was going to be. All of the filters totally caked up with crud. Got it back to the mooring and spent an hour cleaning it all out. So blocked that it was backing up all the tubes.
Worked perfectly afterwards but in what way is a vacuum cleaner that needs an hour of maintenance when it is full better than one which needs 30 seconds to change a paper bag? Of course, I curiously enjoy this kind of thing but how many of the women these things are aimed at enjoy repeatedly banging filters against a fence post?
"No loss of suction" my arse.

Basic laws of marketing.
Make something which a woman likes and market it in such a way that the woman desires it and the man ends up buying it for her.

Tesla is clever.
The woman would naturally want a Renault Zoe or something but the marketing of it being the most efficient thing and by some odd fluke also very fast at accelerating plus having enough doors for a family means it is acceptable.
Win win situation. Bloke gets a swift car woman gets a quiet car and Tesla gets to sell units regardless of what the quality is like. The build quality is irrelevant in this story because you have homed in on the interpersonal couple relationship.
No flies on these marketing guys

Add to this the 'transition to a greener future or whatever bullshit we can think of ' and there is now a layer pf 'oh we don't want our kids to have a shit time when they are older...' with people blatantly unaware of the fact that the car you drive has fuck all effect on what will happen to your kids when they are older.
It is sad in a number of different ways but also quite amusing.
