Dam channel 4 don't seem to do catch up on the news, was the coverage positive ? Yeah it was certainly sympathetic coverage and the boaters interviewed were ok as well. It did us no harm.

About 70 turned up. A comfortable number given the small area there. A good demostration, no hassle or silly behaviour. I think the trust let themselves down by not coming down and addressing those who attended. I can see that sort of blind ignorance coming back to haunt them. The passing public Took note of what was going on, and overall, the trust for the moment seem to be on the back foot. Time will tell.

I think the NBTA are the only organisation who are capturing the public's imagination when it comes to exposing CRT's motives. If it wasn't for them I'm sure that CRT would end up chipping away at more freedoms and pleasures which boaters have enjoyed up to now. CRT are trying to run the whole thing as a top heavy business which will suck the life out of it. Fair play to the NBTA and putting up with the rain.

Cheers tried to look on ch 4 news on the web but couldnt find it, saw a short film on it. From the trusts point of view I suppose its tomorrows chip paper, time will tell if they are right or wrong on it

I don't think its even a case of right and wrong.

Usually C4 news is biased drivel, but they just made Mr Grimes admit on national tv that the problem has been caused by the trusts own interpretation of the law.
The piece condemns CRT right out of their own mouth, brilliant !

I looked at the clip. 'Social Cleansing' was uttered. That'll suit London's new Mayor - get the infidels shifted so more of his mates can move into London. Good luck to the boaters, I say - generally they look like people who just want to mind their own business, not cause any harm, and bring their kids up in an educated and civilised manner. When you look at the population of a city such as London, boaters make up a tiny, tiny percentage. I think the greatest threat would be for CRT to 'dissolve' and various bits of it to be handed to American Corporations such as G4 and the car-parking Mafia-run outfits. They will crack the whip and there'll be no mercy then. You may think "this can't happen" - but it has already (railways, car parks, prison authorities, British Tax Offices sold cheap, airport security & baggage handling). I wonder how many here, who support the boating communities, have done anything about the closure of rural Post Offices? Do you drive kids on your bus in this state?

I think Mike grimes just dropped a clanger. Although I suppose it is the truth at the end of the day. The trouble is only the court could decide which interpretation to run with. That unnerves me a bit TBH. It comes back to the dangers of getting what you wish for.
