Passengers had a miraculous escape when a large tree crashed through the roof of a double-decker bus in Poole, Dorset. There were no injuries, as none of the five passengers on board were sat at the front of the bus at the time.

If I misread your post, I apologise of course, but it appeared to be a gloat at someone else's misfortune and choice of boat too.
I always believe when someone's having problems is the LAST time for such humour, but we're all different.

I always believe when someone's having problems is the LAST time for such humour, but we're all different. My comments are often open to interpretation of all sorts. I don't even know what kind of boat Donkey has, I vaguely remember seeing a picture of 'Hello'. We could do with more photos of it! Put some more pics up Donkey - start a blog/journal! It doesn't really matter what I say, actions are more important, and if I were in England I wouldn't mind popping over to visit Donkey and having a look through his boat and suggesting things that could be done, if indeed there are any more issues. I would certainly expect Donkey to have, by now, started a 'Service History' list, and list of 'Things To Do' list. I'd have no objection to giving a hand with his boat - although I am not a mechanic, I might be able to point out things that should have attention drawn to them. Surely the idea of boating is to get all the niggly items out of the way so you can concentrate on The Adventure and puffing away on your pipe on the back deck whilst listening to the owls hooting?

So... do you think the previous owner left it in good condition for a buyer? Did he tell you the age of the alternator belt? (OK, it's a cheap item, but if we were to sell our boat, the alternator belt age/when it was put on, is certainly on our lists). How has your diesel-burning stove got flooded? Why was there no 'proper' cowl for your chimney? (back later - paperwork to wade through today, and if I am signed into TB, work will not get done!)

Having been on Andy's boat for some boating I have decided to not pass judgment or make any comments about the old wrecks.
