There's a boat very similar to that at Mayroyd moorings in Hebden Bridge. I think owned by the guy that owns the moorings.

They were tough boats, imagine the number of years they've been abused by mainly novices, and are still going strong.
Most of the older boats were still made by hand lay-up, and that made a stronger, more even thickness to the Fiberglass hulls.
For the hire fleets they needed strong stuff, so I think that your new boat will still be pretty good, and the BMC 1500 is a tough engine too.
They are still quite popular, so if you bought her cheap, and don't have to invest too much money in making her look nice again, you'll make a nice profit the day you sell her.

I was amazed at the thickness of our GRP, putting new skin fitting on I had to go through from both sides with a hole saw. I reckon that as GRP was fairly new to boat building then that the conversation went like this. "well how thick shall we make It? I dunno, what about 3/8 of an inch? Not sure about that, let's double it to be on the safe side , OK 3/4" it is. Phil there was a bit more science to it than that! Senior 31 developed from the Elysian 27 in 1963.

I have had the hatch above the engine off today cleaned it up and sealed it up. It has been leaking so now its open everything up in the daytime then dehumidifier for the rest of the time, fingers crossed that it dries out soon so it can cleaned up inside. views required for whats best for selling it, the cooker is new however the fridge is knackered so has been tipped, mattress do I put a new one in or leave the clean but old one in place? The engine will be serviced, heating serviced and all batteries new, carpets and lino renewed. Is this to much or about right?

Sounds right to me but I would put in a new mattress, leave the label on, people like that. Don't forget to use Mr Sheen. Spray and polish sink, basin and toilet bowl, people love it when they run water and it all beads, I used to do this when as a marine valet preparing boats for sale. Phil

The thickest GRP boat I've ever laid eyes on was the venerable old Silhouette bills-log.blogspot.co.uk/2010/01/silhouette-robert-tucker-small-sailing.html?m=1Some mad bugger had a crack at a Transworld voyage in one!

Peter you should try to think of this boat as a buyer, instead of being the seller, and then think how you would have liked to see a boat that you're going to buy.
Of course if you would like gold plated taps for yourself, you can't expect them to be on here, unless they're there already of course.
A new mattress, new batteries and carpet and lino renewed and a nice fresh smell of a good cleaning product will most likely convince the first prospective buyer to empty his/her wallet there and then.
Good luck.
Almost forgotten to say, if you don't know what to do with the profit, message me by PM and I'll give you my banking détails to make transfering to my account easy.
Peter.

A old gadger I knew on the Broads had an Ideal 45 which was later up at 11/2" thick, the original owner used to troll across the Channel, in fact when my mucker sold her she went to the Charonte. Chris always lusted over this boat because you could walk round the bed and it had a whirlpool bath. One drawback with her was the limited headroom in the saloon, me at 5' 8" had to duck.

"you could walk round the bed and it had a whirlpool bath." Crikey, a bed with a bath in it!

Well batteries purchased 4 x t105 trojans £90 each, whilst more expensive than 110 leisure batteries they will last longer and look better when selling the boat. Its all open again to the sun and wind and will be ready soon for sorting/servicing all the bits and bobs before the big cleanup
