Agree with Gazza, having spent 10 years on a Broads Tub, I'm very interested in your project. By the way thete is a growth in electric boats on the Broads, with back up gennys to charge the battery bank when needed. There was a grant available to convert to leccy, the White Moth, a trading wherry converted for hire was due a new engine and it wad decided to go hybrid with a genny to charge the batts, the got a grant of over £7000-00 Phil

I will do pictures as its not a clean up for sale anymore. I have been looking for thin flexible insulation as a starter, the lynch motor and controller I have had for a few years, so it will be good use for it. I will take this opportunity to move bulkheads and bed etc. Its going on trade plates next month ready for the complete gutting of the interior

Right Phil or anybody how much do we think the boat weighs? broom think about 5.5 tons thats for a 32 x 12 fibreglass broads cruiser. I sort of agree the reason is that a 24 volt motor is good up to 8 tons so I should be well in on this boat. I reeally do fancy living on the broads rather than up here so when its finished I might be moving..................

The salesman at broom says they have sold some electric boats and expressed an interest in my whispergen that I was going to use along with the solar panels. I am interested in moving as the lack of currents and locks is a definite plus unless someone spoils my dreams

If things got/get bad on EA waters (and the old girl is mostly done) I'd move to Broadland in a heartbeat.

Many happy memories from boating there over the years.

If you get a withdrawal symptoms from a lack of locks you could go and look at Mutford lock on Lake Lothing - next stop continental Europe You won't get far up this canal either. www.nwdct.org/

I have been getting prices for insulation today also looking at moving things around in the boat to maximise living space. This involves changing the bathroom and the bedroom around. I am thinking of making the bathroom a wetroom as this in some ways is better for us, I have also been bidding on a rayburn on ebay at the momemt its mine with not long to go the joys eh. The electric side is sorted Cedric Lynch and I had a chat yesterday and what i have will do the job nicely, and have a good range if I take my time

Not strictly the boat itself [although engine is now sorted so it can be removed and sold with confidence] I also inherited a trailer with the boat which I have been going through 2 x second world war pocket knives [very rare ones] and now a Clarice Cliff Bizarre crocus jug as new a signed England football plus other jugs and collectables life is good sometimes, it will all help with the fitout costs. If anyone needs a good 1500 BMC engine and box complete and in perfik runnin order I have one I need to claw back those conversion costs

I suspect with running it will be stop doing that, forgot its also had a new oil pump and bearings before I bought it, the oil pump had wear but the old shells are in good condition. In some ways its a shame to take it out but the bathtub is perfik for electric conversion.
