Voting could be based on your National Insurance number or Gateway ID. Most of us are registered with the state in one way or another. And, yes, it could be an offence, liable to a fine, for not turning up to vote. I completely accept that some don't want to vote. There could be a box saying, I won't vote because I can't be bothered to think hard enough to make a choice that will affect my future and that of future generations. Even then you could still tick all boxes or none. The ballot papers are anonymous so you wouldn't get nicked. Or a box saying "an election was never won by one vote and I don't want to be herded like an animal". Typo edit

Funny (even if it was a tad predictable)

Thankfully, most of those too thick to vote are also too lazy! In your dreams. Sadly it's only the thickos that can't tell the difference between left and right that swing elections one way or the other. The floating voter. Floater for short. But Shirly, everyone who is 18 years old and over, and who resides on a boat is a floating voter.

We each have a duty to vote. I believe it should be compulsory in a democracy. If you can't choose a candidate, you can spoil your paper or leave it blank. I have a postal vote so it's no hassle. Iv voter turnout was 100% it might change politics forever. That dont make sense to me but then a lot of things in life dont lol. Why should somebody walk to the voting station to put an unmarked paper in the box. And what difference will that make to the votes ? I could easy spoil the paper

It would be more of a democracy if the turnout was 100%. If you can't be arsed to walk to the polling station, you could get a postal vote. But then you will have to persuade someone to lug the envelope to the post box for you! If all the under 25s voted, Labour would get in. When the Tories win, I will blame the young, who, incidentally, have the most to lose, for being so apathetic that they didn't vote. Grrrrrrrrr.

A choice do I walk 4 miles to the polling station and waste a bit of paper or ask the powers that be to send me a bit of paper so wasting a bit of paper and an envelope.

Maybe we could forced at gunpoint or sent to a gulag for hard labour.

It's like;) Perhaps, if all those like you actually bothered to vote, the Greens would start to grow as a party? They will look at the total votes cast nationwide.

At the end of the day I don't give a remote toss who is running the country. I have children but its impossible to tell which party would make their lives better is it all about money - if a political party will make you richer then thats good. How shallow. I know there are policy differences between the two main parties but when it actually comes down to day to day life you just get on with it. Obviously its pleasant to live in a relatively prosperous and peaceful country. Thatcher fucked up Britain badly. Blair and Brown fucked up Britain badly. They are all human.
Its a setup at the end of the day.
Another way of looking at it is what would happen if nobody voted at all?
I suppose there will always be a few. The idea that an individual voter can influence an election outcome is bullshit. A nice dream I guess.
