The biggest problem was that all the Fire Escape signs were written in English. Oh god, the fecking idiot, yorkie munching, prostitute murdering, communist, Russia lover, bridge basher, moron/spastic accuser, illegal knife holder, fat middle to old age git, Charlton supporter, closet racist. has spoken! You forgot "moped-riding".

No, no, no. It's Andy who is traditionally known as "the mong".

You forgot "moped-riding". Thank you, my post has been updated/edited. I'll just point out that the overwhelming majority of Honda Express owners/restorers on various Facebook groups are male. However, it is true that the Honda Express was originally marketed at women, in fact part of the original design brief back in the 1970s when you could say such things was "It must be light enough to be able to be picked up by a woman if it falls over".

Eye witness inside said alarms and sprinklers were not going off. The only fact we know is the fire was outside. That can not set off automatic alarms/sprinklers. If the system is manual, even if automatic it will still have manual call points.
You have to ask the residents if they did not hear an alarm why did know one think to set it off? So yes they are pontificating experts because they are moaning but it was in their hands to do something. If any resident had bothered to learn the fire drill and evacuation plan (that may or may not include stay in your flat until otherwise told)that they all will have access to, not one person followed it. And we wonder why there are mass deaths in tower blocks. Really, do you know this for certain and even if a manual call point was set off, did a remote monitoring service 'silence alarms' because there was no other 'corroberating' back up info.
Stay put policy is a justified point of contention following Grenfell - I know I wouldn't given similar circumstances.
Well, hence why I said may or may not. I know that if there was no fire system in place then they would be in serious serious trouble. If someone silenced an alarm without knowing if there was a fire or not then they will be in serious shit, including possable jail time. It's a reasonable presumption to make that yes they have a system in place and no it was not activated.

The regulations around fire rules are tough. We had a store who locked a rear gate to prevent the kids getting in,
This was deemed a fire route and the company was hit with a 6 figure fine

All depending on the fire policy - you are projecting what your experience is to other situations.
Likewise I project my experiences of managing complex (fairly modern) fire alarm systems over several undergrounds stations/tunnels and with interfaces at numerous places with an international airport.
You are factually incorrect in some of your assumptions.

Here's some insider info if you ever go shopping at Lakeside, Essex, which I learned when working there on a promotion for Sky TV.
If a message comes over the tannoy saying "Mr Burns please come to Pizza Hut" then that means Pizza Hut is on fire but they don't want to freak the punters out.
