Mr Stabby was a nailed on cert, I'm sad he chose withdraw it and IMO it was thunderboat distilled to perfection. I think it was a noble gesture. Yet I have a feeling we shall seeing that photo crop up again later. Yes, that's obvious. I just wish he wasn't so noble, it was a funny photo.

Well finally I've put my tick in a box. That was a hard choice to make, there really are some stunning entries this year.

www.halifaxcourier.co.uk/whats-on/arts/your-picture-of-the-week-1-8790863[/quote]The end of the Halifax arm, moored in front of that boat a couple of weeks ago. Had a walk up the canal trail, along the route of the old canal arm, under bridges, through old locks. It's a shame more of these old arms weren't kept, like at Dewsbury. The branch to Rochdale canal basin was filled in years ago, though the old toll footbridge is still there, the Halfpenny Bridge. Go on guess how much it cost to cross.

What are the rules is the votes produce a draw? Do these rules cover 5 or 6 pictures all getting the same votes for first place.

Or we could put it to another vote but that too could result in a draw. (and its just making it more bloody complicated than need be).

Any chance of a re-vote if it doesn't go my way?

My nails are gone now and my cuticles are hurting horribly.
When do we get to know the result of this ridiculously stressful "competition" ?

Do you think that the vote indicates that less than 10% of the membership are genuine individuals, or that less than 10% are interested in the competition.
I know there are many 'duds' on the membership list (sock puppets, one-off joiners etc) but would be disappointed if we only have 29 genuine members.
Any thoughts?

MJG No I did not read it.
Thanks for that.
3 more days of worrying. Is there any way it could be sorted out a bit sooner? Maybe bribe would work? I've got some nice old gas lights I could let you have for a very good price.

Rog I get the impression the "genuine members" can be counted on 3 hands. Its a shame that Mr Stabby's socket puppets will end up biasing the photo competition but there we are. The boating season is over now.

Between now and April is the best boating time don't you think?
Quieter than the rest of the year. Lord of all you survey.
Sadly I have to forego boating until after christmas, but will be back underway before January.
As Wainwright famously wrote, "there's no such thing as bad weather, just unsuitable clothing".
