Its nowt to do with the car makers, Our Government was taken to court and lost the case twice, so now they have to do something and that something is make life very difficult and expensive for diesel engines. google it and all will be clear. Sorry about that list it was a map on wikipedia very small no idea where the list sprung from!! Where did I say it was the car makers? You've said it yourself, a law our government has resisted has been forced on us. We resisted because we don't have any meaningful uk industry to profit from the change, for us it'll be pay, pay, pay. We do but maybe you dont realise it Nissan, Toyota, Honda, JLR, Aston Martin are all going electric/hybrid we make those cars in the UK. Graphene for batteries UK invention we will benefit from this new transport revolution along with wind turbines built here rather than other electric generation built elswhere. I had heard that the tin mines of Cornwall might contain Lithium if true win win, we mine it and make the batteries as well

it's not so much the tin mines but the St Austell area (the old china clay area) they reckon there is some 3.3 million tonnes of recoverable lithium just from the richer areas, with much more than that available from lower grade areas around
There are more and richer deposits in Cornwall but they are in areas designated as areas of outstanding beauty

well that bit of it already was anyway, even the Eden centre is built in one of the old quarries ...... I don't know if it still holds the record but one of the pits there was the biggest hole in the ground in the UK

On the plus side apart from reducing Cornwall to a hole in the ground! we wont have to buy Lithium for a while and it will produce excellent well paid job opportunities defo a win win

Heard on the news yesterday that client earth arnt happy that NOX emissions arnt dropping fast enough so they are taking the government to court again [they won the last two cases], so I suspect the local authorities that have done nowt, will soon be doing something!! I suspect interesting times are ahead for a few big cities
