If this is all intended to form a 2019 calendar, could we please have a photo on the cover of some bird with her tits out, rather than 2018's horrendous photo? Are we now supposed to add our favourite metart pictures? How rude ! And sexist . There are women and gays on here as well. I think the cover should have "this page was intentionally left blank" written on it. Staring at a blank page is great because you get to use your imagination. I want my grave headstone to be blank

Foxy I cant be arsed arguing about it but I don't believe anybody submitted any 'out of the attic' pictures at all, just some taken a short while back, the only stipulation was that they were taken by the person entering and they had a waterways/boating theme. But as you are obviously wanting to muscle in and run the thing feel free you run it fella. You obviously post lots (as in lots!!!) of pictures so I don't honestly think you need help posting the entries up. (Your other comment about Lumix cameras is utter shit too BTW). I don't mind having a go at organising the whole competition, but I am not overly-ambitious. I would be quite happy if you were to do the layout/voting scheme when September-October are here. I know you're thinking of entering your Sprotbrough snap again, but it's already in the 2018 Calendar you silly old sod. Look, here (September): photos.app.goo.gl/iL55sAAbX06GUyCo1That's incredibly kind of you. And no I wasn't going to enter the Sprotborough (and was aware it made it to the calendar) shot but I do have a lot of photos taken before we gave up boat ownership three years ago now so I'm afraid I will be unlikely be able to enter given 'your' rule. As I said last time this was just started as a bit of fun and now you are trying to turn it into test of peoples technical photographic ability accompanied by some rigid time criteria, which although is indeed what some photographic competitions are but this is Thunderboat where I thought things were done differently. If that is what it is now about, some of shots that made it to the calendar last year won't get close this. Lots of entries last year were just good informal shots not technical masterpieces. (peterboat's springs to mind) So no sorry not for me if you want to run a competition like that it's over to you lock, stock and barrel, as we say in Yorkshire 'gerron wi it',

It would at least keep up the tradition of grossly offensive cover photos.

You could just edit the file names to show 2018 Unless there happens to be a picture with some sort of date identification in it like someone holding up a Thunderboat or Pirelli calendar then nobody is going to know. Apart from CRT who log every boat's location 3 times a day with surface, air and space based tracking systems. I think you'd get away with it to be honest. It would be worth it just to be a "rebel without a clause"

I have thought about this but no promises. The 2018 calendar and rental car, and postage to deliver it cost me 2 weeks' wages :/ I could have less calendars made - say, for entrants to the competition rather than including also 'by posts count'. Strange to say, today I was even thinking of what the cover photo could be... (anyway, I'm glad it turned out to be a success of some sort, gave me something to do and was fun)

I doubt that fewer calendars would make it much cheaper as I imagine that the set-up costs are the biggest expense for the printer. I'm quite happy to chip in a bit to help you with the expense if you want, it would be worth it for the Christmas meet-up alone.

I did ask if they'd give me a discount for ordering so many - I bet they usually get orders for three or four... or just one. But the miserable gits said 'No.' The postage did drop, though, as they all came in one box (apart from peterboat's which was ordered seperately). Thanks for offer, but if a 2019 calendar was made by me, the cost would be down to me - after all, I got to choose the pics for the 2018 calendar. I only sit on my arse all day watching the pine and birch trees go by, the money just rolls in by itself. Sorry, Martin, if you have got the heffalump-huff, I don't want to be the SS camp kommandent, I just think the idea of a competition is to get up and have a go, and not just pull some old shit out from the 1970s photo albums. Those days have gone. Those photos are for your grandchildren (and theirs) to wonder at (I hope you have written a description/explanation of the photos). There is no reason why you cannot enter, nothing to stop you from having a look and the canals and waterways and boats this year. Going to France? They got canals there! Go and visit Bargemast and take a photo of his boat with a spectacular sunrise behind it. Go to the Ripon Canal or York or Selby - opportunities abound! There are boats in Staithes and Whitby - for instance: Taken with Olympus Stylus SH-1

My shots are only ever from a phone, if we are going to have to have a strict set of rules I'll have bugger all to add! The last two years have gone fine, thanks in a large way to both Martin and Ross, I can't see why a winning formula needs messing about with tbh.

I offered previously and am still happy to make a financial contribution.
I am a technophobe so a snap off a phone is the limit of any entry I will make (Jane's phone and she'd have to put it on here too).
But I think last years winner was pretty much just a snap.
It would be interesting to know.
