When did the attraction open? If you haven't noticed CaRT have been employing managers from the leasure industry/attractions for quite a while now, so that's where they are pitching themselves.

That doesn't answer my question, it could be said that the marketing team are just employing better qualified managers. When do you think the attraction opened - with the rebrand?

I view the canal/river system in a very similar way I do to the public footpath/bridleway system. Should be centrally funded (in the main) and anything that is done to make people realise and enjoy what we have should be supported (not without criticism though!). I certainly don't want bins every hundred yards along the towpath!!!!

What about more benches for all the new visitors. That might improve their well being.

Answer the question yourself when do you think the attraction opened? I don’t think it’s that straight forward really. There is a difference between the actual changes of use of the canals over the years, and changes to the definition of what a canal is to be used for. It’s similar to the way that the government has changed the use of the word ‘charity’ over the years, yet the dictionary’s definition has remained pretty constant. It’s called ‘creep’ and apparently we are too thick to notice...

What about a discount for boaters who are prepared to dress up, or down, in "trad" gear, clogs, brown corduroys, collarless shirt, weskit, flat cap, kerchief and pipe. A ratting dog perhaps? Anyone got a horde of dirty urchins to loan to put on display when the inspector calls. It would attract coach loads of visitors to "authentic" canals.

By the way, I've just been reading your 'outlandish and provocative' thread on CW. Who'd a thought Rog

Another great idea, I’ll try it next time I pass through Stoke Bruerne...what are the going Equity rates nowadays?

Fine, just keep them within a radius of less than 2 miles from a 'honeypot site'.
