So to sum things up:
The 'which is the shiniest turd' contest has been cancelled
All the Brexit supporters have shit the bed and quit
Theresa gets to be Prime Minister, not elected by the people or even the party..
So this is the 'democracy' brexiteers were fighting for...

I dont see how she could continue after being shown to be a liar on her CV and then accusing the Times of fabricating her comments in an interview about TM and having the Times then release the Audio showing exactly word for word they reproduced her comments.

As normally a conservative supporter by instinct I had discussed the options with my sister and we had agreed that Theresa May was probably the best choice of a very poor bunch (and to be honest that goes for all the parties) The other Conservative candidates were either flawed (Gove, Johnson) or too new and unproven (Leadsom, Crabb) In a more honourable world Liam Fox would never have shown his face again.
What ever happened we were probably going to get Theresa May as Prime Minister at some stage of the game

You can't blame me for this. The bastards have never had my vote and never will. I was on a knife edge with the referendum - on balance I felt we were better off in, forget the EU debate, if the successful yes vote in the referendum triggered this leadership change then you brexit voters only have yourselves to blame

it might have triggered Dave's resignation but that was not an expected side effect. I (and I suspect most people) expected him to suck it up and get on with carrying out the wishes of the electorate, after all that is what his job description is ....... we didn't expect him to wimp out.

What ever happened we were probably going to get Theresa May as Prime Minister at some stage of the game what are your reasons for voting conservative? I have to be honest and say as a younger person I tended to believe a lot of what was in the papers and it even made me think about the tories as an option, but I believe in the greater good and no one being left behind so I never actually voted for them as I believe tory policy is intrinsically selfish and all the 'one nation' 'big society' 'caring conservatism' bollocks is just that.

I think a lot of it has to do with the dire state of Britain under the leadership of a Labour party that was firmly under the thumb of the big unions. I lived through the days of closed shops where if you didn't kowtow to the instructions of local union officials then you suddenly became un-enployable. It was a foul time for anyone who had any thoughts of their own. Time after time the conservatives came into power and managed to claw the country back into some sort of financial stability, were voted out and the following Labour government spent us back into the shit again. As regard the damage to the pound because of Brexit ..... Harold Wilson oversaw a drop as bad on the instructions of the IMF whom he had to go to, cap in hand, for them to bail us out.
So that might explain why (although I might want to give them an occasional good kicking and I do like there to be a good strong socialist leaning opposition, on balance I prefer them in power

Cameron has attacked the people at the bottom while giving to those at the top, thats my problem with the tories, its not about equality with them. No matter who'd have been in charge in 2008 we would have been in the mire, they all supported deregulation of the banks and the credit culture we have developed. We need another way, one that doesnt kick the shit out of the poor or increase inequality and division.

I'm not so sure, I think she might do the full term as party leader. The reason is that I don't see anyone else that is a rising star likely to push her off. Of course the proviso being that she doesn't drop too many clangers or tread on too many toes (Eu ones excepted of course ) This is replying Stumpy of course ......... I must start "Quoting" but it makes the posts so bloody big
