That's because most of it is Tax £1.20 a litre, 58p fuel duty 24p VAT means that only 37p is the "cost" of the fuel, and out of that there is transport and distribution to pay. And yes you do pay VAT on the fuel duty. Not to mention refinery costs. So a 20% drop in oil price is probably a penny or two. Budget soon and under the pretence of being green, 2p onto fuel, so back where we started...... Locally diesel is down from 120 to 118 maybe more to come

It's already started going down Kris ....... Will it keep pace with the world price drop ? ..... well that's another matter I’m sure it will drop a bit, but not to the extent that the price of crude has. Russia and Saudi Arabia are looking likely to have a oil production war so crude prices could go through the floor

Well, budget given, anyone have a clue what’s going to happen with red diesel for boat use? BBC says red diesel stopped for some sectors in 2 years time. Doesn’t specify exactly which sectors. But we have another 2 years, anyway.

Budget statement includes (second paragraph is more interesting)
“ Red diesel: Removing entitlement – The government will remove entitlement to the use of red diesel and rebated biofuels from April 2022, except for agriculture (including horticulture, pisciculture and forestry), rail and for non-commercial heating (including domestic heating). The government will consult on whether the entitlement to use red diesel and rebated biofuels is justified for any other users, for example there is a strong case for continued use by ferries carrying paid passengers on the UK’s rivers and inland waterways, or public entertainment. Commercial boats on open waters, including ferries and fishing boats, will remain entitled to the Marine Voyages Relief so will not have to pay more for their fuel. This measure will incentivise businesses to improve the energy efficiency of their vehicles and machinery or look for greener alternatives. To support the development of alternatives that these businesses can switch to, the Budget has also committed to at least doubling the size of the energy innovation programme, accelerating the design and production of innovative clean energy technologies. (39)
Red diesel: Prohibition of use for propelling private pleasure craft – Private pleasure craft already pay the standard white diesel rate for propulsion. They will still be entitled to use red diesel for their heating use. Where they have one tank for propulsion and heating, the government will explore options that prevent them from having to pay a higher rate of duty on their heating use than they would otherwise have to pay. Details on the implementation of this power will be set out in due course.”

Much as happens currently. It seems improbable the govt would mess around too much with the cost of heating.

I have a cunning plan...
Fit a second fuel intake hole on top of my tank and tell the marina/fuel boat that the tank is split in two, one for heating and one for moving, please put £50 in each..

It's early evening - and you don't get a lot of money out of thin air. Have a word.

he already has considerable personal wealth. And where did that come from? Do you think he'll share his bank statements with us? Finance sector apparently. From wikipedia "Sunak worked as an analyst for investment bank Goldman Sachs between 2001 and 2004.[2][9] He then worked for hedge fund management firm The Children's Investment Fund Management, becoming a partner in September 2006.[10] He left in November 2009[11] to join former colleagues at new hedge fund firm Theleme Partners, which launched in October 2010 with an initial $700 million.[12][13][14] Sunak was also a director of investment firm Catamaran Ventures, owned by his father-in-law, Indian businessman N. R. Narayana Murthy.[9][15]"
