I don’t think you’ve been reading the thread Rog. I use a dry toilet system so does peter. peterboat composts ... stores waste for 6 to 12 months. I understood you did the same kris with your multiple boxes. The system I was discussing was just bagging and binning ... that is NOT composting. Rog I would consider my system a dry toilet. I store more than one bucket, but it’s not getting composted and returned to the earth in the manor that I would consider optimum.

Another one who doesn’t read what’s written. Rhetorical bullshit needs no reply.

believe me I’ve tried alsorts. Liquorice? That's an interesting approach. It will be the coloured sugar coating that does the trick.

I think dogless was referring to the type of toilet where you shit and piss directly into a bag. The unit has a device for rapidly closing the bag and an elastic band for catapulting it away. Dry not in the sense of no piss but in the sense that nothing ever hits the base of the storage unit due to the bag shituation. There is no need for storage boxes or turnips you just remove the waste bag and dispose of it in a normal bin. Assuming that the provider of that bin is happy for you to dump raw sewage in it.

I was trying to seek information, and happily @tonyc has provided it ... thank you. Thanks peterboat for the composting information, but such a system of storage is hopeless on a small cc'ing narrow boat in my view. kris I have no idea what you do ... you claim composting one minute ... then rebuke me for 'not reading the thread' the next when I'm enquiring about bagging and binning. I'll speak to the people who've converted to a Simploo ... and then make my choice ... but thanks all. Rog

"a boater's favourite topic".
In discussions like this I feel it is important not to become upset or defensive over your own choice of waste disposal issue solution.
It's a technical problem which needs to be solved.
The only things humans ever do is problem solving. You can not escape from this basic fact. Nothing you ever do is anything other than problem solving.
Getting rid of shit from a boat when you are not allowed to place it into the waterway is definitely a problem worth solving.
Problem-solving characteristics vary among humans.

I'll speak to the people who've converted to a Simploo ... and then make my choice ... but thanks all. Rog In the years of using dry toilets I’ve used both composting and bagging solutions. So no wonder you get me “claiming” both. Sorry for rebuking you, but I get bored of the idiots on these threads, I should probably just ignore them.

Fine ... a bit peed off you accuse me of not reading the thread I started, when actually it's you that's been unclear about what you do ... but it doesn't matter. I'll keep reading and asking, and by September have a new loo ... but which one Rog PS Just read your edit, sorry

Don't bet against ... the flies did it ... Jane was watching Rog you only get flies if the seat and the lid aren’t air tight. My monies on you buying another Thetford. But it’s a shame because dry toilets are the way forward.

I will speak to the folks with the Simploo ... prices are similar ... emptying once every three weeks (ignoring liquids) has its appeal ... but either way I'll post what we do.
Of course what we decide on is merely personal choice, not a judgement.

Eleven pages about daily toilet functions... if I was this obsessed about my defecatory habits I am sure it would turn my hair grey.

Even if you use elsans for disposal it’s not so often.
