Chief Premise-Running-Thin say Kris have massive chip on shoulder and didn't read the part about how it isn't CaRT blaming composters, but other boaters - some of them composters themselves. Incidentally, set in the wall of one of London's sewers still in use is a clay tile which has inscribed on it a legend which reads (in Latin) 'The seventh legion built this sewer'. it’s also boaters blaming scruffy boats for everything and think they should be removed. Certain sections of boaters are saying these things not every boater. Certain sections of boaters will say anything. So what about the increased usage of decreasing numbers, plus a reduction in the amount of emptyings ( on the remote ones that need trucks to visit.) you don’t think this would have effect on the amount of blockages and breakages? Or do you want to conviently forget about the real reason for the decline in standards at services? So you think it's just "other boaters" complaining. Recently someone left a load of boat rubbish on towpath nearby. I observed a passerby using loud expletives to describe boaters in a negative light. He was not a boater. Just someone who does not appreciate rubbish dumping. Similar thing with elsans. passers by do not want to be seeing and smelling it. If you think this is about shiny v scruffy boats I think you have it all wrong. In London at least, which you did mention, I'm pretty convinced the landlubbers have a fairly big angle on this and an interest in preventing the canals become slums. Of course it has already happened in some places. At some point this will be stopped and that will not be done by installing more toilet disposal facilities. If anything the opposite will happen. Maybe I credit those in charge with more intelligence than they possess in reality but it seems to me that a move is underway to present residential towpath dwellers as a problem. Remove rubbish and sewage disposal services you get more rubbish on towpath and probably bags of shit in council bins. People talk about these things. Create a problem then solve it? It's sad to see but I'm sure pikeyisation of waterways is happening and fast.

I'm happy to pay around £300 for what is after all a wooden box and some moulded plastic. Get a grip man. As kris says, build your own. Use that £300 to buy toilet paper. Ricco would not approve...

I wonder, for about a millisecond, why this might be happening. yes you have an understanding of why this is happening. It is very easy to demonise the whole community and ultimately get rid of it. It seems it’s nemesis who is having a hard time understanding it. I still don't understand fully why it is happening.
I have my thoughts based upon my prejudices of CRT i.e. let them get on with it/that will or is costing money/life would be easier if we didn't have to look after liveaboards/too difficult/can't be arsed etc etc.
Is this correct (in your opinion) or is there something conspiratorial at large?

A scruffy boat says more about the owner than the boat.

I appreciate you're kind of workshopping to an extent on this, but I'm liking some of these very progressive offender rehabilitation programmes. We don't have hard scientific evidence (yet), but I think a good old dredge could be very good for the character. I would probably be made to some dredging myself, if they but knew how disgraceful I am- but I can't sing those slow blues songs that they sing- apparently that's mandatory Who are hypocrites to judge? I'm probably eligible for canal dredging duty if I'm honest, but if they're going to start judging my blues singing they can jolly well dredge the canals without me. I wonder if G4S could sell it as a kind of community service gig, but with added chains...

It is always valuable to listen to others experiences and practices of any system ... but we're upto page ten and NOBODY has actually used a 'dry toilet' system Rog

Have you considered there might be a reason for that.
Never had you down as an early adopter of change...

It is always valuable to listen to others experiences and practices of any system ... but we're upto page ten and NOBODY has actually used a 'dry toilet' system except kris and peterboat; kris dumps his waste in CRT bins, and peterboat scatters his over his turnips. Both are happy, so all is good.

I use a dry toilet system so does peter. peterboat composts ... stores waste for 6 to 12 months. I understood you did the same kris with your multiple boxes. The system I was discussing was just bagging and binning ... that is NOT composting. Rog
