"Most people who have a bad experience rare speak about them thus the general populace does not get to hear about them. Whether that is because of shame or fear I do not know, that in my opinion is the reason why things rarely surface."
I don't agree. I think more people give negative reviews about products and services than positive one's.
Anyway I'd be interested to hear how you get on because if I ever decided I had to sell my boat, Rugby boats would have been my first choice. Putting your experience on here is certainly very useful but it would be good to hear Dom's side.

"I do not think it is being over sensitive to be extremely upset to find one's boat not secured and protected from the weather. Interestingly that very act invalidates the insurance policy to the best of my knowledge and had something happened they would have been unlikely to payout."
This is the crux of the matter, also the poor communication from the broker, it seems. I would like to know the exact details, but it's extremely unlikely that a representative of Rugby Boats is going to join Thunderboat.net and come here to tell us their side.
Now, you ask "What would YOU do?" - if we were to try and sell our boat today, I would keep Graham's experience/story in mind, and try and ask as many other people as I could of their experiences with this company. If 99 were positive about Rugby Boat Sales, and Graham was the 1 in the hundred, then I would of course still be inclined to ask them to help sell our boat.
Are there other horror stories about inland waterways boat brokers? Are there firms that are definitely 'dodgy'?

I mean, let's face it, Dominic does indeed join and sets out to explain his side of things.
The next post is from tomsk with "Twat!"
it's not going to look very pretty, is it?

No business owner in their right mind would come on an internet forum to defend themselves against a disgruntled customer. The company never comes out looking good when that happens.

But at least he has the opportunity now. I've never been a great believer in hanging dirty washing out in public, or naming and shaming, but recognise that if all other measures have been exhausted then it's the only thing left. Whether all other measures have been exhausted here though seems doubtfull.

I have a couple of questions that I believe only the brokerage will know the answers to and myself. So with D9's permission I will ask the questions if and when someone appears.

Normally very true but I saw it once happen on CWDF when Justin from Aqua Narrowboats completely blew somebodies version of events surrounding an issue right out of the water. it was quite entertaining.

I have no problem once he has answered three question which will tell me if he is genuine.
