Anyone got any yet ?
We're working until 5pm Christmas eve, and then been invited across to Jane's brother's and his family for 'nibbles' etc. which should be nice.
Jane's sister joining us for Christmas day, and at some point we may pop over to my eldest sisters house where nieces and nephews will be assembled.
Usual surfeit of wine and goodies in the evening to fall asleep to.
Pretty routine but should be enjoyable ... and guaranteed no fish fingers !

A sober day cooking for 9 people, followed by another sober day cooking for 12 people. Grrrrr! Don't you just love 80+ yr old mums that invite everyone then tell you that you are in charge of cooking!

I quite enjoy preparing veg in advance ... takes me back to when I was a lad in a house full of brothers and sisters when Christmas Dinner was a major operation and everyone had a part to play.
Hope it goes well ... certainly sounds fun ☃️🎅

Sitting in boat with fire going possibly a short cruise on the launch if things are pleasant.
My imaginary woman and children arrr going abroad as they are wont to do, for horrordays.
So yeah. Should be alright !
Looks like some dry weather coming so probably no flooding. I suppose it it is dry for the next ten days it might be orf strong stream and I can potentially take the floating electric beer drinking platform out.

Almost escaped cooking dinner for Ali plus 2 kids and partners.. but, daughters new kitchen gone off schedule so at our house again. Routine as per last few years. Prep veg etc first thing, turkey in at 10AM. Walk to club for midday for couple of hours, few pints and couple of frames of snooker. Home for 2ish to take turkey out, other meats in and get potatoes etc on the go. Hopefully dinner on table for 5 at latest and then around neighbours for a get together.

I shall be resolutely ignoring Plastic Toy Manufacturer's Day and fiddling with the VeloSolex.

Round to mother's where Jeff will be cooking the dinner, sis and man, plus neighbour opposite who has recenly been bereaved are invited. Mother this year announced that she can't really be doing with a big christmas dinner as her teeth don't work very well and when she is endlessly chewing she can't hear what people are saying. And she can't really see the food either. Well she is nearly 101. So she announced that she wanted Jeff to prepare a chicken casserole, pre-cooked and just to be heated up on the morning. Hmmm, the rest of us didn't like that idea very much and cooking a chicken casserole for 6 will not be easy on the boat. So I have talked her into separate chicken sloshed with gravy and vegetables. She initially wanted mash but has now decided she'd quite like roast potatoes. So although she doesn't actually realise it yet, we will pitch up mid morning and Jeff will cook the chicken, veg, trimmings etc in her kitchen. What with her being deaf and blind she will never notice. And if she complains, I will role reverse my childhood and say "just eat what you are given!"

Can't guarantee it but I can guarantee I won't be roasting a ginormous turkey using 4.5kg butane bottles. Plus, turkey is crap anyway. If it was any good people would eat it all year round and every High Street would have a take-away specialising in Turkey Twizzlers, with Bernard Matthews' image beaming out from the shop window like some inbred Norfolk version of Colonel Sanders.

Marmite on toast with a poached egg,I suspect. Often do an oil change Christmas morning - have three filters in and enough oil - must check engine hours. Thanks for the timely reminder. Enjoy your plans, your day and your dinners x
