An interesting report including a statistic which suggests that a switch to vapes is the most effective tool in people stopping smoking. The government have introduced legislation which will add a significant tax to e liquids. A bottle I currently pay Β£1.00 for will in the future be Β£4.00. I'm wondering if there has every been an activity that's beneficial, will literally lead to numbers of people not dying, that has been earmared for a new 'sin tax'. Also, whether the NHS, handing out the kits to aid people's health will be subjected to the sin tax, or be exempted? www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c97w41qdj19o

Hate the smell of these things. Probably shouldnβt be taxed, but banned from use anywhere near me.

Yep, lets start with 100% tax on coffee and cake shops. I think you'll find they are (taxed , not 100%) But yes, exactly ... optional stuff we can choose not to buy. Rog

Vapes were taxed in the same way as coffee and cake are. Why tax vapes more? Just because they are optional...

Because, like cigarette's, they are used by selfish, entitled tossers who think itβs their right to puff on them wherever and whenever they want immaterial of other people around them!

Tax things that are optional. Makes perfect sense. Rog Really? Tax everything then. Exemptions only for oxygen, water and food to a prescribed calory intake. I'm beginning to wonder whether your posts are deliberately provokative. Or really, you're a bit thick.

Well that's pleasant.
We don't agree on (I imagine) an infinite number of subjects, but I see no reason in that to insult each other.

Smoking, drinking, eating excessively harmful fatty foods ... these are all things we do through personal choice, and consequently , even though such taxation will adversely affect me, I think they are appropriate targets.
But don't worry ... it's only my opinion ... feel free to utterly ignore it.

You might not realise this although another poster pointed one of them out to you. I ignored them. This was the first. It's not unreasonable.
