so now I realise you are stupid. You asked for a link, even though I have a bad internet connection I provided one. If you had used this as a starting point and continued on from it, you would have found out that the same idea of consent underpins the system in this country as well. But you don't really want to know, do you? So I'll leave you with your illusion of power having voted. Supporting an immoral and corrupt system, or maybe you really think by voting something will change? What can I learn from the link you posted? Your poor internet connection is no excuse. Dictionary.com is not really authoritative, is it? Your idea of democracy sounds like something out of Monty Python! Look Keppler, the bottom line is this. If I don't want to vote then I'm not going to vote, and you tell me that I should be forced to vote then you can just fuck off and live in North Korea or someplace similar.

The poor internet connection means I'm not going to spend time spoon feeding you.

In the UK we do not govern by consent. We govern by those we elect. If you can't be arsed to vote, you have no say in the matter. Don't tell me to do my own research! If you have a valid argument please produce it here. There is no need to be rude.

Yes the democratic system is under pinned by the idea of consent and by voting you are consenting to be governed by the elected government. If your not prepared to educate yourself there is no point in discussing it with you.

I did not abuse any individual on this forum. If you feel that I insulted you personally I apologise. But you address remarks to Kepler or Keppler, and that is personal. Why do you deliberately misspell my username? Ad Hominem is a logical fallacy.

Kepler this is the last link I am going to provide for you. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consent_of_the_governedI suggest you start at the history section. By the way I've asked you a number of questions that you have over looked answering. For instance, do you believe that by voting you are going to change anything?

Claiming my view of democracy is something out of Monty Python isnt a personal insult then? Do as I say not as I do hey?

I really don't care if you vote or not, but I want you to make the point at the polling station or by postal vote. You missed my point entirely. I don't recognise the legitimacy of the polling station. Delta9, did you vote in the EU Referendum?

Delta9, did you vote in the EU Referendum? No. Why not? Out of interest. I thought Brexit was one of the reasons you set up this forum?
