How are you going to charge your car if you have to park in the street?
Will there be cables stretched across the pavement?
Will you be able to reserve the parking space outside your front door? I don't think so

How would it work if you had a diesel engine hybrid? Would you be allowed to have the engine on there but use electric in restricted areas. I can't see how that could be policed.
With improvements in battery technology maybe a move to electric canal boats would be feasible if charging stations were installed at visitor moorings.
Could get interesting but I would have thought the actual outcome will be that canal boats are exempt anyway.

I don't think so Electric cars will only work for the masses if councils put in charging stations everywhere. Doable but bloody expensive !!!

When will aeroplanes be flying on electricity, then? Solar panels on the wings... Cull the paedophiles queueing for the Bang-Cock* and Fuck-it* flights to Thailand and save kerosene.

Ah the cult of Elon Musk has taken over from the cult of Steve Jobs. Where is the electricity going to come from to charge these wonder vehicles?
Fossil fuels?

Put a wind turbine on the roof of the vehicle and harvest energy while it is moving along. Simple. Try sticking your hand out
One day we'll get perpetual motion.
For now we have to do with petrol motion.

For now we have to do with petrol motion. Or you could propel the vehicle using a giant propellor on the roof, then harness the energy from the wheels turning to drive the propeller...

No Large solar charging stations with his battery banks for storage simples So how is all the lead required for the batteries going to come out of the ground? Which countries will produce/supply that lead? Countries with adequate safety standards for their miners? And the plastic casing for the batteries - made from a fossil fuel (oil)? Where will all the old solar panels and old batteries go eventually? Onto the dump? Are countries such as Saudi Arabia which is running out of oil investing in electric vehicles, or just buying up gold and expensive properties in West London? Foxy no lead in those batteries the lithium and the cases are 100% recyclable so you are barking up the wrong tree their. The new generation solar panels in development are going to be grown I believe things are changing but it requires positive thoughts to make it happen

So Leeds has announced today that dodgy diesels are going to be charged for going into Leeds, starting with Taxis Lorries and buses. Interestingly a two year old diesel will be exempt and so will a 11 year old petrol car, the taxi and private hire operators are up in arms about it but their is something they can do about it which is ditch the old diesel, switch to petrol and convert to LPG, or go over to electric or hybrid. Other cities and towns will be following shortly. Well it always makes me smile when things start to happen that I said would....................how long before a driverless electric taxi hits the road?

I don't know but the pendant in me says this is about raising money more than anything else. If they were serious, it would apply to private vehicle's which would make the most impact.
