I used to be quite keen on them too. But its a young man's game.don't you believe it !!! .... This is my Cousin on one of his motorbikes ....... by the way .... he's 90 Love it! That’s a tidy and interesting bit of kit, good on him! 👍🍻👌 I’ve been in the garage today - I’ll start a new thread to save knocking this noddy Suzuki one off the rails 🤪🙈

🤪🍻👍 I remember in the mid 90’s there was talk of a 1.8TD Escort being quicker in gear from 30-50 than its RS Cosworth sibling - on balance I think I’d rather have the RS and drive it properly! I think there was similar talk about the MG Meastro turbo having a very narrow edge over the RS at a very specific speed range - that little win could never be enough to want one over an Escort! You have to be careful at times, practical classics thought they would have some fun at an allegros expense, they arranged a race with various cars including an allegro equipe [1750 twin carb], anyway after 10 laps it lapped the XR3 and all the other so called hot hatches so funny Say it quietly but more than a couple of folks who’s opinion I hold in high regard reckon the 1800 TC Marina was head and shoulders better than a Mk3 cortina. Both handled like a bucket of warmed up shit but the Marina edged it on the engine front 🤪

Phil my Corporal had just bought a MG maestro turbo they had a race Joe admired the the rear lights of the maestro for a very short while! Those Maestros had terrible torque steer but were fast, faster than the opel anyway, About 2 days later his Opel was stolen security on things in those days wasnt good, it was never seen again

I wonder if anyone ever did a race where you put 5 litres of petrol in a fuel tank and see who gets the furthest.
ETA car race I mean. On twisty country lanes.

Who won?
Was it the Toyota Aygo?
ETA I mean vehicles which do not have an electric drive option obviously.

How long will it take to drive to Aberdeen and back? Its the challenge of arrival. when we can travel I am off to Auchencairn Scotland, the journey will take the same as normal, at the halfway point we will stop and charge have a pee and something to eat the car will be fully charged in that time. Its what we always do so nothing will have changed. The days of me doing 200 plus miles without a break have long gone So how long is lunch? Does it include cheese and biscuits as well? And the distance is not spectacular, only roughly 200 miles, not a good example. Tell you what, I'll race you from Land's End to John O'Groats. I promise I won't exceed 60mph and you can go as fast as you like.

I am aware that it can be done. Maybe if I had a garage I might have something for sunny afternoons in it. As things stand a functional car is more than enough for me. I do like two-strokes though - the noise, the smell. What is it - T500 perhaps? It's a trials special, a Bantam with the 2 cylinder 2 stroke Villiers engine. Its the smallest of his bikes the others are an AJS 350 Trials and a 500 MotoGuzzi Nice but not a bike. An antique.

Measuring it rather than relying on the fuel econometer. I'm getting around 57 but I have a heavy right foot and doing 90 along motorways whacks the economy right down very quickly.

Personally I've seen too many results of what happens when twats treat the road as a playground (and maybe watched too many youtube videos). There are daily reports of carnage and death in the news and it seems to me the majority are the work of deluded incompetent fools. The car is a convenience and all that interests me is how to get to where I'm going with the least hassle (and expense). Daewoo Matiz or Toyota Previn for you then - the equivalent of motoring purgatory 🤪🍻👍 Just like guns and cricket bats - speed doesn’t kill, inappropriate speed does. Life would be dead boring if we were all driving around in brown 50hp 3 box turds on wheels! Andyberg has it right👍🍻 You're nearly right - Toyota Yaris. Paid £1000. I've now changed the tacky aftermarket wheels for stock items. BTW, 84bhp - an irrelevant figure - and it will do 80mph all day but its more economical (50mpg-ish) at around 60.

I didn't even use the 'grip control' feature. No kleenex as yet then?

And it's black ! Nice colour if you like black.
And I was like "I see a Yaris and I want to paint it black".

And it's black ! Nice colour if you like black. It wouldn't have been my first choice but its better than red. When looking for a cheap car the colour is the last thing to consider.
