when we can travel I am off to Auchencairn Scotland, the journey will take the same as normal, at the halfway point we will stop and charge have a pee and something to eat the car will be fully charged in that time. Its what we always do so nothing will have changed. The days of me doing 200 plus miles without a break have long gone So how long is lunch? Does it include cheese and biscuits as well? And the distance is not spectacular, only roughly 200 miles, not a good example. Tell you what, I'll race you from Land's End to John O'Groats. I promise I won't exceed 60mph and you can go as fast as you like. We will set a cost, 2 pence a mile maybe for both of us, once you have gone over that you have to push your car all the way! Still want that race? I have had a quick google plenty of free charging points on the way so I will happily not have to push a car will you? I bought the car for my uses Martin it fits in with our life nicely, in a few years whether you like it or not driving an ICE car is going to expensive change is coming and I am embracing it rather than stamping my feet and hoping it wont happen.

The charging point thing is interesting.
What happens if other people have the same idea?
There are 4 at a Tesco I go to and I regularly see all 4 occupied.
How do they police these? Is there a fine for overstaying or could you just leave your car there all day if you wished?
I know the i3 has a range extender in some models (petrol engine generator) so you are not obliged to find a charging point but it seems to be an interesting subject.
Can you book a charging point in advance and what would stop someone else parking there?
Fights will break out.
A pub I went to a couple of years ago had two Tesla charging points both of which were occupied by German diesel engined vehicles.
What do you do? Go in the pub and shout "Oi, I am a Tesla driver!!"

I wish I could afford a new car 😞 Until then for local trips it will be the 17year old one. The 11year old Yeti will be back from SORN when longer trips are allowed.

Talks I’ve had with my neighbour, who is high up at MIRA, which is the right up there when it comes to vehicle development, have convinced me that EVs will not be the only way forward for vehicles. He surprised me with the amount of resources going into hydrogen developments. He also calmed my fears for ‘us petrolheads’ with regards to the next 20 plus years. He believes in 20 years time there will be a mix of propulsion available.

EV will take over there is no doubt at all about it.
I just wonder about the ability of charging points to keep up.

Peter, I think those things are admirable in many ways but the fact is the tech isn't currently up to real-world standards. I have no doubt things will improve. Incidentally, shall we cost-in purchase price to your economy tariff?

Nice but not a bike. An antique. Antique but very useable. Yes, it looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. What a beauty. But you wouldn't use it every day.

I don't actually know without talking to my cousin, but it is a handbuilt trials special, the engine is one of the later Villiers from the 1960's but the rolling chassis is a one off with modern suspension and disc brakes, I don't think it was built that long ago. Next time I talk to him I will ask

Next time I talk to him I will ask I once saw a lovely concoction - a Kawa H3 400 motor in a Harris-built Featherbed replica frame. All very café-racer and it looked the nuts. I wish I had a picture to show. I really like that kind of thing.

Know what you mean, back in the early 70's I was lusting after a Tricatti ..... wonderful bit of kit .... even had a test ride, not able to raise enough money before it was sold
